The Serie A resumes this weekend with 5-time reigning champions Juventus leading by 9 points. |
It’s only 13 games into the season and Juventus seem to be running away with the league. Both Roma and AC Milan dropped points last weekend as the Old Lady stretched their lead at the summit to seven points. Looking ahead, the fixtures for matchday 14 are easy on the eye and I’m extremely confident in my tips this week. Let’s find out what’s worth backing in this week’s Serie A preview.
Saturday 26 November
7/10 Torino | Draw 11/4 | Chievo 4/1 (19:00)
We kick-start the weekend with Torino playing host to Chievo on Saturday evening. The home side have been excellent of late with back-to-back wins and are unbeaten on their ground with four wins from six games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just six times. Chievo are coming off a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home against Cagliari, their first win after five matches. Torino are unbeaten in the last four meetings against Chievo, including three wins. The home victory is the way to go here.
28/10 Empoli | 47/20 | AC Milan 1/1 (21:45)
Up next, Empoli will lock horns with AC Milan at the Stadio Carlo Castellani. The Azzurri were manhandled last week Sunday as Fiorentina ran riot claiming a 4-0 victory. It was the fifth consecutive match in which Empoli failed to score at home, conceding nine goals in the process. AC Milan are struggling to keep up with Juventus at the top of the table. Nonetheless, they have been impressive in recent weeks with five wins from their last seven matches. The Rossoneri are unbeaten in the last five meetings against their opponents and are tipped to bag maximum points here.
Sunday 27 November
15/4 Palermo | 28/10 | Lazio 7/10 (13:30)
Sunday’s early kick-off pits relegation-threatened Palermo up against a confident Lazio side. The home side have been horrendous in recent weeks, suffering seven defeats from their last eight matches, including six on the trot. High-flying Lazio are undefeated in their last eight games with five wins and three draws. They have won four of the last six meetings against Palermo, including back-to-back wins on the road, scoring seven goals without conceding. The away win is on the cards.
21/10 Bologna | 22/10 | Atalanta 27/20 (16:00)
Bologna’s 3-1 victory over Palermo last time out ended a run of seven matches without a win. They will be eager to build on that, but to do so they face one of the most in-form teams in the league – Atalanta. La Dea are unbeaten in their last eight matches with seven victories, including five on the spin. However, home advantage will play a big role in the outcome and the sides are tipped to share the spoils.
5/4 Cagliari | 24/10 | Udinese 21/10 (16:00)
Cagliari have been disappointing in recent weeks with four losses from their last five matches. However, they have done well at home, winning four of their six home games and will be keen to add that. Udinese are winless in their last three matches, but are coming off a 2-1 loss at home against Napoli. It’s a tough one to call, but Udinese have scored in each of their last six games and given Cagliari’s impressive home form, Both Teams to Score – Yes – looks well worth a punt.
21/10 Crotone | 9/4 | Sampdoria 27/20 (16:00)
Crotone’s season seems to be going from bad to worse. Bottom of the log in the league, 10 defeats from 13 matches, scoring 10 times and conceding 26 leaves a lot to be desired. Their opponents, Sampdoria have managed just one win from seven travels. Five of the last six meetings between these sides have seen Under 2.5 Goals. Neither side look convincing on the betting front, so it might be worth it to stick to that Totals market at 15/20.
47/10 Genoa | 28/10 | Juventus 6/10 (16:00)
Genoa are unbeaten at home with two wins and four draws from six matches but will have to work their socks off if they are to get a draw let alone a victory against defending champions Juventus. The Old Lady are showing no signs of slowing down with 11 wins from 13 matches, scoring 28 goals and conceding just nine times. Juve have won five of the last six meetings against Genoa and are tipped to come away with all three points.
1/5 Roma | 6/1 | Pescara 11/4 (21:45)
Roma and Pescara is the final Serie A contest on Sunday evening. The home side have been brilliant on their ground with six wins from six games, scoring 20 goals and conceding a measly four times. Relegation-bound Pescara are without a win in their last 11 matches, including five defeats on the spin, scoring just once and conceding 12 times. Roma offers little value at 1/5, so get on the Home To Win To Nil market at even money.
Monday 28 November
3/10 Napoli | 47/10 | Sassuolo 17/2 (20:00)
Napoli will kick things off with a Monday night clash against a struggling Sassuolo side. Gli Azzurri have been strong on their turf with four wins from six matches and will be looking to add to that with another victory. Sassuolo have been poor in recent weeks with four consecutive defeats. Their away record has also been dismal with five losses from seven matches. Napoli have won four of the last five meetings against the Neroverdi and are tipped for the win on the (-1) Handicap at 7/10.
11/10 Inter Milan | 24/10 | Fiorentina 5/2 (22:00)
Inter Milan and Fiorentina will bring gameweek 14 to a close with what promises to be a cracking contest. The home side have won back-to-back games, scoring five goals and conceding just once, while Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last six matches, including three victories. Recent meetings between these teams have gone in favour of Fiorentina, with the Viola winning the last seven encounters. Another eye-catching stat reveals that seven of the last eight head-to-heads have produced Over 2.5 Goals. As much as I want to back Fiorentina at a valuable 26/10, they have blown hot and cold. Over 2.5 Goals at 8/10 is a safer bet.
TREBLE @ 7/2
Lazio Win 13/20
Juventus Win 6/10
Napoli (-1) Handicap 7/10
