Italian Serie A Preview

Italian powerhouses Juventus pulled five points clear of second place Roma with a ferocious 4-0 win at home against Verona. Roma came from a goal down to draw 1-1 away to Palermo whilst Higuain helped Napoli to a hard fought 1-0 win away to Lazio that kept their third place Champions League spot secure. AC Milan suffered more horror and face a tricky test away to Lazio this weekend in what is probably gameweek 20’s biggest fixture.

Cagliari 12/10 draw 23/10 Sassuolo 23/10

Cagliari remain in 18th spot after a hard fought 2-2 draw away to Udinese last weekend, scoring their equalizer in added time. They have been poor at home, recording just one victory from nine matches, scoring nine goals and conceding double that amount. Sassuolo were unlucky not to take maximum points after an entertaining 3-3 draw against Genoa, taking the lead three times but poor defending let them down as they had to settle for a share of the spoils. They are unbeaten in their last four games and are tipped to get a result here. Back Sassuolo on the win/draw at 6/10.

Lazio 1/1 draw 23/10 AC Milan 28/10

AC Milan will travel to Rome to face Lazio looking to revive what has been a dismal campaign thus far. Lazio are coming off a hard fought 1-0 loss at home against Napoli whilst AC Milan couldn’t do any better, losing 1-0 at home against Atalanta. Lazio have struggled to maintain winning form this season and their inconsistent defending has cost them on many occasions. AC Milan have been poor on their travels and their home form hasn’t been much better. Both sides have leaked goals, conceding 22 each from their 19 matches played. Both Teams To Score looks a good bet at 17/20.

Verona 29/20 draw 22/10 Atalanta 19/10

Verona will be looking to pick themselves up after being thrashed 4-0 away to Italian champions Juventus. They return to their home ground where they have managed just three wins from nine matches. Atalanta are coming off an impressive 1-0 win away to AC Milan, their second away victory of the season. They have scored only five goals in 10 travels and it’s difficult to see them rallying to another away win. The draw is on the cards.

Inter Milan 15/20 draw 5/2 Turin 38/10

After a dour goalless draw against Empoli last weekend, Inter are now unbeaten in their last five matches with three draws and two wins. Turin have been fairly decent in recent weeks but have struggled on the road, scoring only eight goals in their last nine games. Inter are unbeaten against Turin in the last 21 meetings, winning 15 and drawing six. The home win is tipped.

Juventus 3/20 draw 62/10 Chievo 18/10

Juventus have been outstanding on their ground where they remain unbeaten with seven wins and two draws from nine matches, scoring 25 goals and conceding five. Juve are unbeaten in their last eight matches after thumping Verona 4-0 last weekend; with Serie A top scorer Carlos Tevez bagging a brace. Chievo are on the brink of the relegation zone as they lie in 17th position after a 2-1 loss at home against Fiorentina. Not much seems to be going right form them this season and Juventus look a banker bet.

Parma 6/10 draw 26/10 Cesena 5/1

Bottom of the log Parma have been diabolical, losing 15 of their 19 matches, conceding the most goals in the league (41). They lost 2-0 at home against Sampdoria last weekend, adding to their woes. Parma will face Cesena who haven’t done much better and are only ahead on the log due to goal difference. Cesena have managed just one win from 19 games this term and are yet to win on their travels. They won the reverse tie 1-0 but Parma should get a draw this time around.

Sampdoria 21/20 draw 23/10 Palermo 11/4

Sampdoria showed class and hard work as they picked up a 2-0 victory over relegation candidates Parma at the weekend. They have now won back-to-back matches as they look to push on for a champions League spot. Palermo locked horns with Roma last Saturday in a cagey affair where they managed a well deserved point, drawing the match 1-1. Palermo are unbeaten against Sampdoria in the last nine meetings and are tipped to edge the win.

Fiorentina  29/20 draw 9/4  Roma 19/10

Fiorentina picked up their second consecutive win last weekend as they earned a 2-1 victory away to Chievo. Fiorentina lie 6th on the table and will have the opportunity to leapfrog Lazio, Sampdoria and Napoli should results go their way. However, they will have a tough task ahead of them as they face second placed Roma who have now drawn their last two matches as Juventus start to pull further away. Roma have won the last four meetings against Fiorentina, scoring six goals and conceding just one. The away win is tipped.

Empoli 1/1 draw 23/10 Udinese 28/10

Empoli haven’t scored in their last three home games after playing out to a goalless draw against Inter Milan last weekend and their winless run has stretched to seven matches. Udinese will be looking to get back to winning ways after being held to a 2-2 draw at home against Cagliari. They are now five matches without a victory. However, they won the reverse fixture 2-0 and are tipped to pull the double over Empoli.

Napoli 4/10 draw 36/10 Genoa 15/2

Napoli will return to their home patch after edging Lazio 1-0. They put in a solid performance against Lazio which earned them their third win from their last four matches. Genoa are winless in their last five games after drawing 3-3 at home against Atalanta. They have registered just three wins at home from 10 games and have lost seven of the last nine meetings against Napoli. Take the home win.
