Italian Serie A Preview

It’s looking very congested at the summit of the table, with only goal difference separating the top two sides – Fiorentina and Inter Milan. Roma are only a point off the log leaders, while Napoli are two points off the top in fourth place. Both teams had a chance to go first on the log but failed to do so, with Roma losing 1-0 at Inter Milan and Napoli being held to a goalless draw away to Genoa. Elsewhere, Verona remain winless after their dour draw at bottom-dwellers Carpi, while Juventus claimed bragging rights in the Turin Derby with a 2-1 victory.

21/20 Hellas Verona | Draw 23/10 |Bologna 11/4 (19:00)

Just what is happening in the Hellas Verona camp? They remain winless this season after 11 matches, scoring just eight goals. Bologna are up next, and they certainly haven’t been at their best either. They have lost eight of their 11 games, winning three times, with two those victories coming their last three matches. Bologna’s away form has been the pits, losing four of their five travels, scoring a measly four goals and conceding 10 times. However, they did manage a 2-1 victory over new boys Carpi in their last match on the road. Rossoblu are coming off a 3-0 win on home soil against Atalanta and should have the confidence to produce another win here. However, for safe measure, back the away team on the Double Chance at 13/20.

13/20 AC Milan | 11/4 | Atalanta 42/10 (21:45)

AC Milan’s top form continued last Sunday with a 3-1 victory away to Lazio, stretching their winning run to three consecutive games. Rossoneri started the season slow but have certainly come in to their own. They have won their last two home games and have the chance to make it three on the trot. Atalanta have travelled dismally, losing their last three matches on the road, scoring no goals and conceding eight times. AC Milan are priced up at 13/20 which seems quite generous judging by the form of both teams. The home win is one for the multiples.

Sunday 8 November

16/10 Torino | 21/10 | Inter Milan 31/20 (13:30)

Torino are unbeaten on their turf with three wins and two draws from five matches. However, they are winless in their last five games after falling to a 2-1 defeat at city-rivals Juventus. Inter Milan have been just as impressive on the road as Torino have been on their ground – undefeated with three wins and two draws. However, they come to town on a high, making it back-to-back victories with a 1-0 home win over Roma last time out. Inter have lost just once against Torino in the last 22 meetings and are tipped to come away with maximum points here.

38/10 Empoli | 5/2 | Juventus 15/20 (16:00)

Empoli extended their unbeaten run to three matches on Monday night, with a 1-0 win away to Palermo. They have won their last two home games without conceding a goal and will be looking to make it three in a row. Defending champions Juventus have travelled poorly with three losses from five matches, scoring four goals. The Old Lady are coming off a 2-1 win at home against city-rivals Turin and will be looking to earn their first consecutive victory of the season this weekend. However, Empoli have done well on their ground in recent matches and are tipped to edge the win with Both Teams To Score at a mammoth 9/1.

24/10 Frosinone | 23/10 | Genoa 12/10 (16:00)

Newcomers Frosinone have won their last three matches at home, scoring six goals and conceding just once. They are off the back of a 4-1 dismantling away to Fiorentina and will be looking to return to winning ways against Genoa. Their opponents are winless away from home, scoring four goals and conceding 10 times. However, they impressed on the road last time out, drawing 3-3 at Torino and will look to improve on the performance with a victory here. It should be a tight encounter, free-flowing game expected. Take Both Teams To Score at 8/10.

13/10 Palermo | 21/10 | Chievo 22/10 (16:00)

Palermo have been dreadful in recent weeks with six losses from their last eight matches, after going down 1-0 to Empoli on Monday night. Chievo haven’t been much better as their winless run continued with a 1-1 draw at home against Sampdoria. They are now five matches without a victory, losing their last two travels. Chievo are 13th on the log, just two points above Palermo in 16th place. The sides are tipped to cancel each other out.

19/20 Roma | 26/10 | Lazio 28/10 (16:00)

This week’s blockbuster sees the City of Rome come to a standstill as Roma play host to Lazio. Both teams are coming off defeats, with 10-man Roma falling to a 1-0 defeat at Inter Milan and Lazio dropping points at home for the first time this season, going down 3-1 against AC Milan. Prior to Roma’s defeat, they had won five matches on the spin. They are unbeaten at home with four wins and one draw from five games, scoring 15 times – the joint highest amount of goals in the league alongside Sampdoria. Lazio have lost two matches on the bounce after the Milan defeat. They have a terrible away record, losing four of their five games, scoring a measly four goals and conceding 13 times. Form may go out the window in derby games such as these but quality doesn’t.Back Roma to claim the bragging rights.

15/20 Sassuolo | 26/10 | Carpi 38/10 (16:00)

Sassuolo are unbeaten at home with three wins and two draws from five matches. Bottom-of-the-log Carpi are up next to test just how strong Sassuolo have been at home. The newly promoted team are winless on their travels, losing four of their five matches, scoring six goals and conceding 17 times.  Carpi have scored just twice in their last four games and will need to be at the utmost best if they are to come away with anything. Sassuolo are tipped to get another home win under their belt.

1/4 Napoli | 47/10 | Udinese 10/1 (19:00)

Napoli missed a chance to join Fiorentina and Inter Milan at the top of the Serie A standings after being held to a goalless draw at Genoa on Sunday afternoon. Genoa’s goalkeeper Mattia Perin was the hero after keeping out eight of Napoli’s goal-bound attempts to deny the visitors a sixth straight win in Italy. Napoli return to their ground where they have been brilliant with four wins from five games – only drawing once in their opening home match against Sampdoria. Udinese will look to knock Napoli off their high horse, but their current form leaves no evidence of that possibility. They have won just once in their last five matches and that doesn’t look like improving here.Napoli are priced up short at 1/4, rather take them to win with Both Teams To Score at 7/4.

29/10 Sampdoria | 5/2 | Fiorentina 19/20

The final match of the weekend sees European hopefuls Sampdoria and Fiorentina lock horns. Sampdoria occupy 9th position on the log, due to a lack of consistency. However, their home form has been phenomenal as they remain unbeaten with four wins and only two draws from six games. Log leaders Fiorentina come to town in fine form with back-to-back victories, after thrashing newcomers Frosinone 4-1 at home last time out. The Viola are have looked far more lethal than their opponents in recent weeks and are tipped to edge the win.
