Italian Serie A: Gameweek 4 Preview

Jose Mourinho's Roma celebrating victory in his 1000th game

Juventus have started the season slowly whilst defending champions Inter, last season’s runners up AC Milan, and Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli look like they are teams on a mission. Gameweek four promises to be another humdinger with more exciting games to look forward to. Let’s get straight to it.

Friday 17 September

Sassuolo 9/10
Draw 26/10
Torino 26/10
(20:45)
Sassuolo takes on Torino in the first game of the weekend, they went down to an injury time winner against Roma last time out and will be looking to make amends for that late slip up. Their opponents today Torino dismantled their newly promoted opposition in their last encounter beating them 4-0. This however is a different type of encounter, and they will find it tough. Back the hosts at 9/10.

Saturday 18 September

Genoa 47/20
Draw 23/10
Fiorentina 12/10
(15:00)
Genoa picked up their first win of the season in their last encounter, beating Cagliari 2-3. They face a Fiorentina team who have won two of their first three encounters. It does look quite tough to call on paper, but the away side does look to be in a good run of form and should be able to win this quite comfortably. I’m tipping the away side in this encounter.

Inter Milan 7/20
Draw 42/10
Bologna 6/1
(18:00)
The defending champions were disappointing in their last game being held 2-2 to Sampdoria. They face a Bologna side who walked away narrow 1-0 victors against Bologna. With Inter Milan playing at home they should be able to have that driving force around them to break any resolve that the away side may possess. Back the hosts as a banker in all multiples.

Salernitana 8/1
Draw 44/10
Atalanta 3/10
(20:45)
The hosts have been disappointing in their first three encounters losing all of them and conceding 11 goals in the process. They face an Atalanta side that have had a topsy turvy start to the season, winning one, drawing one and losing one. The hosts have showed that they are a bit out of their depth in the league thus far and should find it hard against one of the power houses of Italian football here. Banker the away side.

Sunday 19 September

Empoli 31/20
Draw 26/10
Sampodoria 31/20
(12:30)

The hosts shocked the entire footballing world after defeating Juventus in Gameweek 2. Their other two games so far this season have been disappointing losing both. Empoli face a Sampdoria who were impressive in their last encounter against Inter Milan drawing 2-2. It does look set up for an interesting encounter but after an impressive performance against the defending champions, the away side should be able to edge it. Back the away side!

Venezia 29/10
Draw 24/10
Spezia 18/10
(15:00)

Venezia won their first game of the season in their last encounter beating Empoli, they face a Spezia side who were downed by a late strike in their match against Udinese. This does look like another extremely difficult match to call on paper. The draw does look like big runner, but I’m going the more cautious route and backing the half-time draw at 12/10.

Hellas Verona 26/10
Draw 11/4
Roma 9/10
(18:00)
Verona have been disappointing in all their games thus far, while Roma have been rather impressive winning all 3 games on the bounce. Roma do look like they are a team on a mission under Jose Mourinho this season and should win this quite comfortably. At a great price of 9/10 they should be added in all multiples!

Lazio 9/20
Draw 37/10
Cagliari 5/1
(18:00)
Lazio’s great start to the season was halted last time out by AC Milan. They face a Cagliari team who have just one point out of three games. With Lazio being at home, they should be able to win this quite comfortably and should also be included in all permutations.

Juventus 12/10
Draw 49/20
AC Milan 43/20
(20:45)

The clash of the weekend sees two Italian giants face off in what promises to be a humdinger, Juventus are winless so far this season with one point from three games while their visitors come with a 100% record. This does look difficult to call but I’m going to predict the draw here at 49/20.

Udinese 31/10
Draw 51/20
Napoli 9/10
(20:45)

Udinese managed to scrape through in their last game against Spezia. They face a different type of opposition today and should find it extremely difficult. Napoli have started the season in incredible form, and they do look like they can be up there challenging come May next year. With that being said, Napoli should really win this quite comfortably.

QUAD @ 48/10
Inter Milan Win 7/20
Atalanta Win 3/10
AS Roma Win 9/10
Lazio Win
