Italian Serie A: Gameweek 10 Preview

Italian Serie A: Gameweek 10 Preview

Who would have guessed it? I knew Juventus would eventually drop points but I would have never thought Genoa would be the team to put a holt to their winning streak. It might have only been a draw but a point at the Old Lady’s ground is always better than none. Napoli capitalized on that and are now just four points off the defending champions. There are another 10 enticing fixtures to get through this weekend, so let’s jump right in.

Saturday 27 October

Atalanta 4/10

Draw 38/10

Parma 13/2

(15:00)

Atalanta bounced back to winning ways last weekend with a 5-1 victory away to Chievo and they will be looking to build on that here. Parma have won four of their last six matches but were disappointing last time out, going down 2-0 on home soil to Lazio. La Dea has been nowhere near their best but after last weekend’s win, I’m expecting their form to only get better. Parma won’t go down easy but I’m backing Atalanta to win this contest.

Empoli 19/2

Draw 9/2

Juventus 1/4

(18:00)

Empoli are on a run of eight matches without a victory – since the opening game of the season – as they lie 18th on the standings. Juventus remain unbeaten despite playing to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Genoa last time out. The Old Lady have won the last six meetings against Empoli, scoring 13 goals and conceding just once. Back Juve on the (-1) Handicap at 15/20.

Torino 15/10

Draw 22/10

Fiorentina 37/20

(20:30)

Torino are unbeaten in their last four matches and will take on Fiorentina, who have been excellent on home soil but dreadful on their travels. As much as I can say, Torino will utilize home advantage, the Viola have been involved in a few tough fixtures on the road of late. Let’s rather look at recent head-to-heads. The last six meetings between these sides have produced 19 goals at an average of 3.1 per game. Get on the Totals – Over 2.5 Goals – at 19/20.

Sunday 28 October

Sassuolo 9/10

Draw 47/20

Bologna 32/10

(13:30)

Sassuolo are without a win in their last three games, scoring only once and conceding six goals. However, are just two points off the relegation zone and have scored only six goals in nine league games. The home side have a terrible record against Bologna, losing the last three meetings at Mapei Stadium. A cagey affair is on the cards with the Under 2.5 Goals market looking well worth a punt at 13/20.

Genoa 11/10

Draw 22/10

Udinese 26/10

(16:00)

Genoa stood their ground last weekend and held Juventus to a well-deserved 1-1 draw. They will be looking to go one better this weekend and hopefully claim maximum points in front of their beloved fans against Udinese. The latter have been in terrible form with four losses on the trot, scoring twice and conceding nine times. Genoa are tipped to come out on top.

SPAL 15/20

Draw 5/2

Frosinone 4/1

(16:00)

SPAL ended a run of four consecutive defeats with an impressive and shocking 2-0 victory away to Roma. New boys on the block, Frosinone, are yet to win a match and look as though they are a sure contender for the drop. The newcomers have lost all four of their travels, scoring twice and conceding 12 times. Back the hosts to claim the all-important win.

Cagliari 6/10

Draw 11/4

Chievo 47/10

(16:00)

Cagliari are off the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Fiorentina, while Chievo are bottom of the log without a victory, scoring seven goals and conceding 24 times. I don’t need too much stats for this one, so let’s keep it short and sweet. Back Cagliari to bag all three points on Sunday afternoon.

AC Milan 5/10

Draw 33/10

Sampdoria 5/1

(19:00)

AC Milan would have been disappointed after suffering a 1-1 defeat at the San Siro to their city-rivals Inter Milan. The Rossoneri have been below-par this season but there is plenty of room for improvement. Sampdoria were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Sassuolo on Monday night, which stretched their unbeaten run to four matches. Nonetheless, I’m backing AC Milan to put an end to that run.

Napoli 8/10

Draw 28/10

Roma 32/10

(21:30)

The match of the weekend will see Napoli go toe-to-toe against Roma in what promises to be a cracking contest. The Azzurri have been in top form with seven wins from their last nine matches and will be looking to build on that. Roma have won three of their last four matches but were poor last time out, going down 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico against SPAL. Napoli are tipped for the win.

Monday 29 October

Lazio 27/20

Draw 49/20

Inter Milan 19/10

(21:30)

The last match of the gameweek pits Lazio up against Inter Milan. The hosts have won six of their nine games, while Inter Milan have won five matches on the spin. The Biancocelesti have won three of their last four matches, while their opponents have been just as impressive on the road. I’m predicting a tight encounter with neither team giving up anything too easy. The Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market is tipped at even money.

TREBLE @ 5/1

Juventus (-1) Handicap 15/20

Cagliari Win 6/10

Genoa Win 11/10
