Stellenbosch FC striker Iqraam Rayners emerged as the big winner during the club’s 2023/2024 awards ceremony which was held at Stellenbosch town hall last night.
Rayners’ stellar season was rewarded with Footballer of the Year, RAMA Fans Player of the Season, and Golden Boot awards. He netted 16 goals in 38 matches and also received a number of national team call-ups.
Stellies had one of the club’s most successful seasons since gaining promotion to top-flight football bagging the Carling Knockout Cup, reaching the semi-finals of MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup while also qualifying for CAF competitions. They are a game away from securing a second-spot finish in the DStv Premiership.
The reserve team which were recently crowned 2023/2024 DStv Diski Challenge champions was also honored in the celebrations with the Golden Boot, Sportsman of the Season, and Footballer of the Year awards.
The Cape Wine Landers will close off their season with a visit to King Zwelithini Stadium to square off against the relegation-threatened Richards Bay FC on Saturday.
