Iqraam Rayners addresses assault allegation

New Mamelodi Sundowns recruit Iqraam Rayners has spoken out about the assault case recently filed against him.

The allegations emerged just before Rayners completed his transfer to Sundowns from Stellenbosch FC, and the incident has attracted significant media attention.

Rayners, 28, who has yet to make his Sundowns debut, confirmed that he will appear in court next week.

He expressed hope that the issue will be resolved through mediation.

In an interview with Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana on the Pitchside Podcast, Rayners expressed his frustration with the way the incident was portrayed on social media.

“I was disappointed by the way it was handled on social media,” Rayners said. “It’s unfortunate because people are forming opinions based on incomplete information.

“The matter is now in the court’s hands. We will have mediation next week with my lawyer and the involved parties.

“I’m confident we can resolve this issue amicably.”

Rayners remains focused on his new role at Chloorkop and is eager to contribute to his team amidst stiff competition for places.
