Inacio Miguel Speaks on What Motivated Him to Join Kaizer Chiefs

Newly signed Kaizer Chiefs defensive midfielder Inacio Miguel has shed light on the reasons behind his decision to choose the Naturena-based team despite interest from other clubs.

The 28-year-old was announced as the new player for Amakhosi on 21 August. He joined from Angolan giants Petro de Luanda, he won the league title, and participated in the CAF Champions League and also the inaugural African Football League over his two-year spell with the Angolan side.

Miguel brings in a great deal of experience that will be important in Chiefs’ bid to end the trophy drought that has lasted close to a decade.

“Basically, it was the project that Kaizer (jr) talked to me and made me view that in the future they want to make something big you know. Yeah, I think everything with Pedro de Luanda in the two years that I stayed there so in myself I felt that I needed a new challenge and what’s better than Kaizer Chiefs the sleeping giant to start again something different,” explained Miguel.

Miguel will get a chance to make his debut for his new team when they take on Marumo Gallants on Saturday, September 14 in their Betway Premiership opener at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.

Nasreddine Nabi praised the leadership qualities of the midfielder as well as the experience that he brings to the team.

“He is a leader. He is exactly the profile type of a player that I need in my team. He is a leader. He has experience and quality. I am happy that he joined Kaizer Chiefs,” said Nabi during the launch of the Betway Premiership.

Nabi also strengthened his squad in preparation for the start of the new season with seven other signings including Bongani Sam, Njabulo Blom, Bradley Cross, Gaston Sirino, Rushwin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari.
