Moroka Swallows interim coach Musa Nyama says he is happy his side benefited against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in a DStv Premiership match on Monday after playing a 2-2 draw.
Swallows entered the half-time break with a 1-0 deficit after a trademark long-range effort by Teboho Mokoena in the 39th minute.
After the resumption of the second half, Chilean international Marcelo Allende doubled the Brazilians’ lead to make it 2-0.
However, Augustine Mahlonoko sparked a comeback for the Dube Birds after quickly replying in the 57th minute to make the scores 2-1.
Former Orlando Pirates attacker Gabadinho Mhango completed the comeback after dramatically netting the equaliser six minutes from the final whistle. The goal caused drama as the linesman had initially raised his flag for offside, only to be correctly overruled by referee Jelly Chavani.
“I must go and see it on video, I have no idea as there was a lot that was happening but I’m happy that the decision went our way and we benefited,” Nyatama said post-match.
The young tactician also revealed that with six games left before the conclusion of the DStv Premiership, he has urged his players to be consistent as they try to avoid relegation.
“We left with six matches and we always say to the players they must be consistent in terms of their performances.
“So, it is given they are professional footballers, they can not take a TS Galaxy game and they won’t put 100% effort.
“They need to put 150% in the next match if that was 120% it’s not enough they need to put 150 effort into the next match,” Nyatama concluded.
Swallows sit in 14th position in the standings and are eight points clear of Richards Bay who occupy 15th position in the relegation zone.
Nyatama’s team will face TS Galaxy on the 28 April in their next DStv Premiership encounter at Mbombela Stadium.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
