Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic is eager to make his mark at SuperSport United after signing a one-and-a-half-year deal.
The 32-year-old reunites with former Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt, under whom he enjoyed a prolific 2020/21 season.
During his spell at Chiefs, Nurkovic made a significant impact, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in 78 appearances. Nurkovic left TS Galaxy to join the Tshwane-based club, and he’s optimistic about the future under Hunt’s guidance.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Nurkovic praised Hunt’s leadership and the opportunities the new chapter offers. “The feeling is amazing, and I’m super excited to work again with one of the best coaches in South Africa,” said Nurkovic, affectionately.
“Coach Gavin Hunt is known for his strong leadership and his ability to bring out the best in his players. This gives me a great opportunity to grow as a player and contribute significantly to the team’s overall success.”
Nurkovic also shared his eagerness to connect with his new teammates and the passionate SuperSport United supporters. “I’ve seen the incredible passion and support the fans bring to every match, and I cannot wait to experience it first-hand,” he added.
“I promise to give my all on the field and work tirelessly to help the team succeed.”
The striker’s reunion with Hunt brings fresh optimism to SuperSport United, as both player and coach look to replicate their past success.
