The Hollywoodbets U15 Siyakhula Cup, in partnership with AmaZulu Community Trust and LaLiga, is set to commence on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of July.
The popularity and prestige of this youth tournament is growing steadily as the second edition is within sight.
Developmental football is always essential in building a base for the next generation of stars, and this tournament is aimed at giving promising footballers a platform to flourish.
On the 25th of June, teams under the eThekwini SAFA region that were available to play for a spot in the last 16 of the Hollywoodbets U-15 Siyakhula Cup, played qualifying fixtures. The tournament will see the qualified 16 teams battle it out over two days in a round-robin format. The clubs and players will have the opportunity to win prizes, with the two finalists winning a Hollywoodbets sponsored match kit and the winning club walking away with R10 000 worth of training equipment to complement their gold medals. Last year’s defending champions AmaZulu FC are ready to take on the challenge again.

The draw for the Hollywoodbets Siyakhula Cup took place at Hollywoodbets HQ in Umhlanga, Durban, this past Wednesday the 27th of July. In attendance were club coaches, representatives, and a panel of AmaZulu Community Trust Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa, Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassador and football icon, Jerry Sikhosana, as well as Hollywoodbets Soccer Sponsorship Coordinator Indira Albuquerque.
Jerry Sikhosana spoke on the importance of youth development tournaments stating, “Tournaments like this inspire young lads to go out there and showcase their skill. And it is so great when we give them that platform to go and perform.”
“It will make sure that people come and scout and see the talent. As you know, we have an abundance of talent in South Africa that needs to be unearthed and make these boys realize their dream of making it into professional football.”
One of LaLiga’s contributions to the tournament is an opportunity for the player of the tournament and his coach to attend an all-inclusive expenses-paid LaLiga clinic in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Hollywoodbets Soccer Sponsorship Coordinator confirmed the sought-after prize is still up for grabs.
LaLiga has developed sports projects all around the world, from El Salvador to China through the US or their camps in Egypt and the High-Performance Center in Dubai. Its players and coaches are recognized worldwide among the best and now they´ll continue sharing their know-how with South Africa.
