This weekend the Hollywoodbets Super League serves up six quality fixtures as champions Mamelodi Sundowns are missing in action domestically, but currently flying the South African flag proudly in Cairo in the inaugural edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
We wish Masandawana the best of luck against Kenyan club Vihiga Queens FC at the Al Salam Stadium on Saturday.
Back to Mzansi, Saturday’s actions finds Coal City Wizards hosting JVW FC in Emalahleni, while Ma-Indies Ladies travel to Cape Town to lock horns with UWC Ladies.
On Sunday, Durban Ladies and Golden Ladies battle it out at the Princess Magogo Stadium and TUT Ladies vs Richmond United takes centre stage in a live match broadcasted at 15:00pm.
Saturday 6 November
First Touch FC 6/10
Draw 23/10
Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies 4/1
(15:00)
Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies had the past weekend off, affording enough time to prepare for their trip to Polokwane to lock horns with an in-form First Touch FC.
Siwelele were consistent in October, suffering defeats to JVW FC and Mamelodi Sundowns while claiming victories over Coal City Wizards, Ma-Indies Ladies and Golden Ladies. Phunya Sele Sele will now aim to conquer their remaining matches strongly and finish as high as possible on the league table, where they trail their hosts by a few points.
First Touch FC come off a 2-0 win over JVW FC away at the Tsakane Stadium, with Noxolo Gcina netting a brace and goalkeeper Kgothatso Manamela’s clean sheet doing the business for coach Tlou Mabojta to impressively complete a league double over the Blue Diamonds.
My money is firmly on First Touch FC to reign supreme at the Seshego Stadium after beating Celtic 2-0 in Bloemfontein earlier this season.
Coal City Wizards 47/10
Draw 5/2
JVW FC 5/10
(15:00)
Coal City Wizards aim to get back to winning ways when JVW FC come to town. Ma’Wizards are winless in five Hollywoodbets Super League matches, suffering four defeats to Golden Ladies, Bloemfontein Celtic, Thunderbirds Ladies and Mamelodi Sundowns while playing out to a goalless stalemate with Durban Ladies.
JVW FC have their 12th league victory in sight when they travel to Witbank to contest their 20th match this season. Coach Ciara Picco’s charges will also be aiming to get back to winning ways following defeat to First Touch FC last Sunday.
These sides met at Tsakane Stadium earlier this season and settled for a share of the spoils after captain Nompumelelo Nyandeni’s first-half header was cancelled out by Ma’Wizards’ Nelisiwe Mchunu in the second period. Select the Blue Diamonds to leave Emalahleni with maximum points at 5/10.
UWC Ladies 5/10
Draw 5/2
Ma-Indies Ladies 47/10
(15:00)
In-form Ma-Indies Ladies travel to the Mother City to clash with UWC Ladies at the infamous Operation Room.
The visitors are in fine form with four victories in five games, beating Tsunami Queens, Richmond United, Golden Ladies and most recently Durban Ladies thanks to captain Adolphina Bopape whose solitary goal decided matters at the Giyani Stadium last weekend.
Coach Thinasonke Mbuli will be disappointed with her UWC team’s 2-2 draw at the Merino Stadium in De Aar, where Molatelo ‘Nemo’ Kobo came off the bench for Khanya Xesi in the second half. Kobo made an instant opening the scoring, prior to Richmond United taking the lead with two well struck goals as UWC Ladies levelled matters through another substitute, Sduduzo Dlamini, who came on for Amogelang Motau.
Interestingly, Kobo also registered on the scoresheet when these teams played out to 1-1 stalemate in Limpopo. This time around, my money is on UWC Ladies to make home advantage count.
Tsunami Queens 10/1
Draw 15/4
Thunderbirds Ladies 2/9
(15:00)
Tsunami Queens are set to entertain Thunderbirds Ladies at the Intabazwe Sports Complex in Harrismith to close out Saturday’s action.
In the reverse tie at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium, Thunderbirds ran riot in a 4-0 victory over the league’s bottom club thanks to goals by Amanda November, Philisa Mjambane and a Zimasa Dekeda brace. The Birds are improving on their travels and shouldn’t face too much of an uphill battle against a youthful Tsunami Queens outfit. Banker Thunderbirds for the win.
Sunday 7 November
Durban Ladies 1/1
Draw 2/1
Golden Ladies 5/2
(13:00)
Durban Ladies play host to Golden Ladies on Sunday at the Princess Magogo Stadium, hoping to end their winless spell after tasting defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns and Ma-Indies Ladies. In fact, coach Nkululeko Ntombela’s charges have only beaten Richmond United in their last 10 league games.
Golden Ladies also need to rekindle their purple patch enjoyed earlier this season, just like their hosts. The visiting team have lost four of their last five games, only beating bottom club Tsunami Queens which doesn’t inspire any confidence.
Durban Ladies humbled coach Fani Motaung’s Golden Ladies in Mafikeng with a 5-1 thrashing in their last meeting earlier this campaign. The home win is a solid bet at even money.
TUT Ladies 4/10
Draw 28/10
Richmond United 6/1
(15:00)
TUT Ladies are massive favourites to claim their fourth consecutive victory when Richmond United make the trip to Tshwane in a match that’s going to be broadcasted live to Mzansi. The hosts will be without Nomvula Mapula Kgoale who last week signed for Spanish second division side Cacereno Femenino.
Coach Simphiwe Dludlu’s troops notched up convincing wins over UJ Ladies (4-1) and Tsunami Queens (4-0), before edging out a 1-0 win over Thunderbirds Ladies thanks to a Busisiwe Ndimeni goal last Saturday.
On home soil in Pretoria, TUT Ladies boast a record of six victories, three draws and defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns from the 10 matches at the TUT Stadium. Richmond United, on the other hand, will take confidence from the 2-2 draw against the quality that UWC Ladies possess.
Striker Nthabiseng Majiya will provide the biggest goal threat for the visitors whose weakness so far has been collecting points on their travels. The home win is the way to go.
MULTIPLE @ 11/1
First Touch FC Win 6/10
JVW FC Win 5/10
UWC Ladies Win 5/10
Thunderbirds Ladies Win 2/9
Durban Ladies Win 1/1
TUT Ladies Win 4/10
