Former Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele is confident his old club can secure victory in their CAF Champions League clash with Al Ahly.
Jele watched as the Buccaneers dropped their first points of the current season by going down 1-0 to Stellenbosch in their last encounter.
But the loss came after Bucs put all their efforts in beating CR Belouizdad 2-1 in their opening group stage match.
Al Ahly also won their first game, a thrilling 4-2 victory over Stade d’Abidjan.
Jele, who played 388 times for Pirates, scoring 18 goals and creating seven, is adamant the current crop of players has what it takes to go far in this competition.
He told iDiski Times: “Yeah, they can [beat Al Ahly]. We once did it so why not?
“They are capable of beating Al Ahly at home. The most important thing, they just need to concentrate for 90 minutes because Al Ahly when they come here, they are going to try and defend for Orlando Pirates not to score goals.
“If they get a chance, they will make sure they capitalise.
“But the most important thing is they will try and not concede a goal. They will do a low-block situation. They’re not going to outrun Orlando Pirates to make sure that they get a win.
“So, the more Pirates do not do mistakes, the more they will get a chance to win.”
