Olivier Giroud says he has been impressed with Frank Lampard since he took over the reins at Chelsea and expects the club to do well under his guidance.
Lampard and his players are currently in Ireland preparing for the new campaign and beat St Patrick’s 4-0 at the weekend, with Giroud coming off the bench to grab a brace.
The Frenchman says he is in no doubt over where the club are heading under Lampard’s leadership.
“I think he [Lampard] is the right person.
“He is basically a Chelsea legend,” Giroud said.
“We all believe in his quality to improve the team and with the transfer ban it’s a good opportunity for the young players to show what they can do.
“Now we’re excited to play the first league game.”
That first game will be away at Manchester United on August 11 and Giroud says preparations are going well.
“I like his energy and desire to always improve and win,” Giroud, speaking to Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, added.
“We’ve been training very hard with high intensity.”
