Despite losing to Gladbach, Bayern still top the table on 29 points, with RB Leipzig now on 26 |
Round 13 of the German Bundesliga had all the ingredients of a weekend of football to remember. Bayern Munch suffered their second defeat of the season, with Leipzig making ground on the reigning champions after a 2-0 home win over Werder Bremen, while Borussia Dortmund surrendered a 4-0 half-time lead against Schalke to draw the game 4-4. Let’s find out what’s in-store this week.
Friday 1 December
29/20 Freiburg | Draw 9/4 | Hamburg 19/10 (21:30)
Freiburg ended a run of three consecutive defeats with a 2-1 home win over Mainz. It was only their second win of the season and the home side will be looking to build on that and hopefully give themselves a little more breathing space from the relegation zone. Hamburg are just two points clear of their opponents and will see this as an opportunity to climb the table. However, their away record has been terrible with five losses on the spin, scoring just three times and conceding 12 goals. In 26 league games between Freiburg and Hamburg this season, the pair have only scored 22 goals. Get on the Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market at 15/20.
Saturday 2 December
13/10 Leverkusen | 11/4 | Dortmund 18/10 (16:30)
Bayer Leverkusen will take on Borussia Dortmund in what’s expected to be a cracking contest. Die Werkself are unbeaten in their last seven matches, while the Black and Yellow army are winless in their last six matches. This one can go either way. Bayer Leverkusen have shown good form in recent weeks and, although, Dortmund have struggled of late, with their backs against the wall, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled a rabbit out the hat. I just think the home side are showing much more composure and I’m tipping them to edge the win.
39/20 Hoffenheim | 26/10 | Leipzig 5/4 (16:30)
Hoffenheim have lacked consistency in recent weeks and are off the back of a 3-0 defeat away to Hamburg. Leipzig have been impressive this season and as a result, are now just three points off Bayern Munich. The Red Bulls have been solid defensively and I’m expecting them to keep things tight once again, while playing fast counter-attacking football. The away win is tipped.
15/10 Mainz | 23/10 | Augsburg 18/10 (16:30)
Mainz are off the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Freiburg but return to their home patch, where they remain unbeaten in their last four matches with three wins. Augsburg have been unpredictable this season and have struggled to maintain winning form. Mainz have won the last five meetings at home against Augsburg and are tipped to add to that tally. The home win should be backed.
13/10 Werder Bremen | 5/2 | Stuttgart 19/10 (16:30)
Werder Bremen are second from bottom on the standings with just a single win from 13 matches, scoring eight goals and conceding double that amount. However, Stuttgart are yet to win on the road with six losses from 7 games. Werder Bremen were outstanding in their last home game, thrashing Hannover 4-0 in emphatic fashion. Stuttgart are without a win in their last nine travels to Weserstadion and should go down here.
1/6 Bayern Munich | 13/2 | Hannover 14/1 (16:30)
Bayern Munich will be determined to return to winning ways following a 2-1 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach. The Bavarians are unbeaten at home with five wins from six games, scoring 19 goals and conceding just three times. Hannover have been poor in recent weeks and remain winless in their last three matches, including back-to-back losses on the road. Bayern should make sure this week and are expected to be much more resolute at the back. Get on the Home to Win to Nil – Yes – market at 19/20.
9/20 Schalke | 33/10 | Cologne 6/1 (19:30)
Schalke have been bringing the heat in recent weeks and are now undefeated in their last seven matches, including a 4-4 draw with Dortmund last time out, in which they were 4-0 down at half-time. Cologne are bottom of the pile and remain the only team in the league without a win. They have scored just four goals this season, while conceding 25 times. Schalke to win on the (-1) Handicap looks well worth a punt at a generous 12/10!
Sunday 3 December
7/4 Hertha Berlin | 22/10 | Eitracht Frankfurt 33/20 (16:30)
Hertha Berlin are off the back of a routine 2-0 victory away to Cologne and will be eager to build on that. Eitracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, suffered a 1-0 defeat on home soil and will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways. A cagey affair is on the cards with both sides expected to take caution in their approach. However, Hertha Berlin can be a stubborn side to break down on their ground and are tipped to capitalize on home advantage.
15/10 Wolfsburg | 5/2 | Monchengladbach 33/20 (19:00)
Wolfsburg have been horrendous with just two wins from 13 matches. Monchengladbach will be buzzing with confidence following their impressive 2-1 home win over Bayern Munich, which made it three wins from their last four games. For those who are looking for value, get on the away win at a hefty 17/10. But Wolfsburg might just prove tough to beat on home soil, and with that being said, I will be having a go on the Monchengladbach Win/Draw Double Chance at 5/10.
TREBLE @ 12/1
Mainz Win 15/10
Bayern Munich Home To Win To Nil 19/20
Hertha Berlin Win 7/4
