German Bundesliga: Gameweek 9 Preview

We head into round nine of the Bundesliga with each team in the top half of the table capable of springing to the summit with a victory. Wolfsburg are the only team in the league that remain unbeaten and will fancy their chances of climbing to the top of the log against Augsburg on Saturday. Including that exciting contest, there are eight other enticing clashes to look forward to this weekend.

Mainz 27/20

Draw 51/20

Cologne 37/20

(20:30)

Mainz have been dismal with six losses from their last eight matches, scoring seven goals and conceding 16 times. Cologne are off the back an impressive 3-0 home win over Paderborn and will be looking to build on that. Home advantage might make a little difference but to be blunt, Mainz are struggling in 17th place. Back Cologne on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 11/20.

Saturday 26 October

Freiburg 34/10

Draw 29/10

Leipzig 15/20

(15:30)

Freiburg suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Union Berlin last time out and will be desperate to get back to winning ways. Leipzig are winless in their last three games and just like their opponents, eager will hungry to change that. This fixture usually favours the home team but following Freiburg’s disappointing performance against the newcomers, it doesn’t look likely this time around. The Red Bulls are tipped to come away with maximum points.

Bayern Munich 1/10

Draw 17/2

Union Berlin 17/1

(15:30)

Bayern Munich have been poor of late as they remain without a win in their last two matches, including a 2-2 draw at 16th place Augsburg last weekend. Union Berlin ended a run of four straight defeats with a 2-0 home win over Freiburg last time out. However, it’s ridiculous to think the newcomers stand a chance of earning a point, let alone three at the Allianz Arena. Take Bayern Munich to Win Both Halves – Yes – at 8/10.

Schalke 49/20

Draw 51/20

Borussia Dortmund 21/20

(15:30)

Schalke fell to a 2-0 defeat at Hoffenheim and will be looking to bounce back but come up against title-chasing Dortmund. BVB are unbeaten in their last five games, including a hard-fought 1-0 victory over log-leaders Monchengladbach last time out. An end-to-end game of football is on the cards with both teams expected to go for the win. However, the Yellow and Black Army edged this fixture 2-1 last season and I’m backing them to come out on top again.

Hertha Berlin 23/20

Draw 26/10

Hoffenheim 22/10

(15:30)

Hertha Berlin have been excellent in recent weeks as they remain unbeaten in their last four matches with three wins and one draw. Hoffenheim have been brilliant with back-to-back wins over Bayern Munich and Schalke. With both sides playing good tactical football, a tight affair looks very much likely. The Totals – Under 2.5 – Goals market is tipped at 12/10.

Paderborn 13/10

Draw 29/10

Dusseldorf 17/10

(15:30)

Paderborn remain the only team in the league without a win this season with seven losses and a draw from eight games, scoring nine goals and conceding 22 times. Dusseldorf have lost three of their four travels but are off the back of a well-earned 1-0 home win over Mainz. The hosts will be extremely desperate to turn this around and should show more of a backbone come Saturday. With that being said, another low-scoring affair is on the cards, so get on the Totals – Under 2.5 – Goals market at a valuable 39/20!

Bayer Leverkusen 13/20

Draw 32/10

Werder Bremen 38/10

(18:30)

Bayer Leverkusen’s three-game unbeaten run came to an end last time out with a 3-0 thrashing at Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend. Werder Bremen are without a victory in their last four matches with their last three fixtures ending in a draw. This one could go either way but I’m expecting home advantage to be the difference on Saturday evening. Back Bayer Leverkusen to edge the win.

Sunday 27 October

Wolfsburg 6/10

Draw 31/10

Augsburg 17/4

(15:30)

As mentioned in the introduction, Wolfsburg remain the only team yet to experience the bitter taste of defeat this season. Augsburg are placed 16th on the standings with just one lousy win from eight matches. The Wolves absolutely obliterated Augsburg 8-1 on home soil last term and will feel confident in coming out on top once again. The home team is tipped to win.

Monchengladbach 1/1

Draw 28/10

Eintracht Frankfurt 24/10

(19:00)

Monchengladbach remain at the summit despite going down 1-0 at city-rivals Dortmund last time out. Eintracht Frankfurt are undefeated in their last four matches, including a 3-0 drubbing of Bayer Leverkusen last Friday. A goal-fest looks very much likely with both teams accustomed to attacking football. Play it safe and take Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 9/20.

TREBLE @ 6/1

Paderborn vs Dusseldorf Under 2.5 Goals 39/20

Wolfsburg Win 6/10

Monchengladbach vs Ein. Frankfurt BTTS 9/20
