German Bundesliga: Gameweek 8 Preview

German Bundesliga: Gameweek 8 Preview

The German Bundesliga returns on Friday evening following the second international break of the season. Borussia Dortmund find themselves at the summit after seven rounds, while to everyone’s surprise, defending champions Bayern Munich are placed sixth on the standings with the team struggling to get going. Let’s get to round eight’s fixtures.

Eintracht Frankfurt 7/10

Draw 29/10

Dusseldorf 7/2

(20:30)

Eintracht Frankfurt have been impressive of late with back-to-back wins, including a 2-1 victory away to Hoffenheim last time out. Dusseldorf are second from bottom on the log with three consecutive defeats, scoring just once and conceding seven times. I had high expectations of the newcomers following their terrific run in pre-season but it looks as though the top flight might have exposed them. Back Eintracht Frankfurt for the win.

Saturday 6 October

Bayer Leverkusen 11/20

Draw 33/10

Hannover 9/2

(15:30)

Bayer Leverkusen have been poor with just two wins from seven matches and are placed just two points above the relegation zone. Hannover earned their first win of the season last time out with a 3-1 home victory over Stuttgart and will be hoping to build on that. The hosts have won the last five meetings at home against their opponents, scoring 15 goals and conceding just three times. Back Bayer Leverkusen to claim maximum points.

Nuremburg 28/10

Draw 29/10

Hoffenheim 17/20

(15:30)

Nuremburg were absolutely pulverized before the international break with Leipzig punishing their newcomers 6-0 at home. Hoffenheim have been dismal of late with two losses on the bounce and will look to get back to winning ways here. A cagey and tight affair looks likely with just one point separating the sides. The Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market is tipped at 14/10.

Stuttgart 3/1

Draw 11/4

Borussia Dortmund 17/20

(15:30)

Bottom of the log Stuttgart have managed just one victory from seven matches, scoring only six goals. Borussia Dortmund remain the only unbeaten team in the league with five wins and two draws from seven games, scoring 23 goals and conceding eight times. BVB are showing no signs of slowing down with the Black and Yellow army currently brushing aside anyone who stands in their way. The log-leaders are tipped to come away with maximum points.

Augsburg 2/1

Draw 26/10

Leipzig 12/10

(15:30)

Augsburg have been terrible with just two wins from seven games but their last home game saw them thrash Freiburg 4-1. Leipzig are unbeaten in their last six matches with three consecutive wins, including a 6-0 home victory over Nuremburg before the break. The Red Bulls had a bit of a sluggish start to the 2018/19 campaign but as you can see, they are showing phenomenal form. The away win is on the cards.

Wolfsburg 13/2

Draw 4/1

Bayern Munich 7/20

(15:30)

The Wolves have been dreadful in recent weeks with a winless run of five matches, including two losses and three draws. Bayern Munich have been shocking of late with consecutive defeats, conceding five goals without finding the back of the net. The Bavarians were humiliated 3-0 at home by Borussia Monchengladbach and will be hungry to get back to their best. However, they are leaking goals at present, so I’d rather get on Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 8/10.

Schalke 1/1

Draw 49/20

Werder Bremen 11/4

(18:30)

Following an awful start to the season with five losses on the trot, Schalke have won back-to-back games, scoring three goals without conceding. Werder Bremen have won three of their last four matches and will feel confident in leaving the Arena AufSchalke with a positive result. The last six meetings between these sides have produced 20 goals at an average of 3.3 per game. Get on the Totals – Over 2.5 Goals – market at 17/20.

Sunday 21 October

Hertha Berlin 17/20

Draw 49/20

Freiburg 32/10

(15:30)

Hertha Berlin have been excellent on home soil, winning all three of their matches, scoring seven goals and conceding just twice. Freiburg have lost two of their three travels and are expected to struggle here as well. Before the break, the Old Lady played to a goalless draw at Mainz, while Freiburg did the same at home against Bayer Leverkusen. I don’t see many goals being scored here but I’m backing the Hertha Berlin to capitalize on home advantage.

Borussia Monchengladbach 6/10

Draw 32/10

Mainz 4/1

(18:00)

Borussia Monchengladbach were absolutely brilliant before the break with a 3-0 victory away to defending champions Bayern Munich. Mainz are without a win in their last four matches, including back-to-back defeats on the road. This for me is one of the best bets of the week. ‘Gladbach were absolutely rampant last time out and I’m expecting that form to continue. The home win should be backed.
TREBLE @ 11/2

Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich BTTS 8/10

Leipzig Win 12/10

Monchengladbach Win 6/10
