Matchday five is done and dusted, and we have a clear indication of Bundesliga teams’ form.
Bayern Munich kick off proceedings on Friday in what looks to be an annihilation, while after RB Leipzig’s recent losses to Bayern in the league and Manchester City in the Champions League, they’ve also missed the chance for maximum points against Cologne leaving the team desperate to get back to winning ways. In the pick of the clashes Borussia Parks hosts a bitter rivalry with big scorers Borussia Dortmund travelling to West Germany to take on Borussia Monchengladbach.
Let’s get into gameweek 6!
Friday 24 September
Greuther Furth 20/1
Draw 10/1
Bayern Munich 1/11
(20:30)
Bayern Munich kick off Friday’s action in what looks to be an annihilation. Munich have won their last seven fixtures scoring three or more goals. Home, away, big, or small team, the Bavarians are on a rampage leaving Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, and RB Leipzig in their wake. I do not need to mention much about the opposition but will say they have yet to win a fixture this season drawing just one. Football has done strange things on many an occasion but betting my house on Bayern would not leave me in any angst. Bayern have scored 23 of their 38 goals in the second half this season so take the second half as the highest scoring half away team at 17/20 for some sort of value.
Saturday 25 September
RB Leipzig 7/20
Draw 4/1
Hertha Berlin 6/1
(15:30)
After their recent losses to Bayern Munich in the league and Manchester City in the Champions League Leipzig knew it was their chance against Cologne to get back to winning ways, but for Leipzig it was a frustratingly evenly matched game at the blow of the first and second half. Die Roten Bullen are now without a win in four straight matches in all competitions and in dire need of a good result. Hertha Berlin have recently bounced back with two consecutive wins over newly promoted Bochum and Furth. Surely taking into consideration the form of their opposition the Berlin outfit will want to pounce at the opportunity for three points. The performance against Cologne was not lacking, so Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 8/10 is the play in my book.
Eintracht Frankfurt 1/1
Draw 26/10
Cologne 24/10
(15:30
The away team fought hard to grind out a point against RB Leipzig last matchday. The Billy Goats are not short on creating chances but have had their head in hands on four separate occasions hitting the woodwork. Eintracht Frankfurt on the other hand have been a lot further down the pecking order tied on 13th with just five goals this season. The last time out against a rather weary and leggy Wolfsburg, Eintracht failed to deliver and will struggle to do so against a confident Cologne. To sure up your bet, back the away team on a Win/Draw Double Chance at 7/10 for the multiples.
Union Berlin 7/10
Draw 26/10
Arminia Bielefeld 38/10
(15:30)
Union Berlin welcome Arminia Bielefeld to the fortress that is Venue Stadion An der Alten Forsterei, where they have yet to lose a Bundesliga fixture in 19 games. Union is however on a three-game slump in all competitions drawing 0-0 to Augsburg at home, losing 3-1 on the road in European competition and succumbing 4-2 against Borussia Dortmund last time out. Arminia Bielefeld last beat Union in 2016 and have never defeated the Berlin outfit away, coupled with a winless campaign to date in the Bundesliga. At 7/10 on the home team, this is another one for the multiples.
Bayer Leverkusen 8/10
Draw 29/10
Mainz 3/1
(15:30)
Bayer Leverkusen is the only away team to win in gameweek three and five, and now they get to enjoy the comforts of their home soil. Surprisingly, the midfielder Florian Wirtz is leading the charge for Leverkusen’s attack scoring a goal in his last four appearances netting an absolute stunner in their 10-man victory over Stuttgart. Mainz have been no pushovers this season, winning three, drawing and losing one a piece with three clean sheets. This will be a real tough match with both teams trying to ride their momentum. The home team should, I believe nick this one.
Hoffenheim 18/10
Draw 49/20
Wolfsburg 29/20
(15:30)
Wolfsburg kicked out the blocks in style but failed to convert chances against Eintracht Frankfurt with a 70th minute equalizer and Die Wolfe’s saving grace Wout Weghorst who now sits on three goals and an assist. Wolfsburg go on the road in search of another three points tied on 13 with defending champions Bayern. Whilst the home team also burst out the starting blocks with an emphatic 0-4 away win the juice dried up right there and then failing to win any further fixtures and sit mid table in 10th. Wolfsburg at 29/20 is extreme value.
Borussia Monchengladbach 18/10
Draw 49/20
Borussia Dortmund 29/20
(18:30)
A rival clash sees big scorers Dortmund travel to West Germany to take on Monchengladbach at Borussia Park. The home team have just one win for the season and have failed to keep a clean sheet in every fixture. The away team have four wins for the season and have also failed to keep a clean sheet. There are goals a plenty in this matchup and that is where my money will be heading. In each of their four wins the Black and Yellows have scored in both halves if you’re looking for value. As for me, BVB have better quality and at 37/20, Dortmund to win & Both Teams To Score (Yes) is the way to go.
Sunday 25 September
Bochum 39/20
Draw 5/2
Stuttgart 13/10
(15:30)
Bochum are finding life difficult in topflight German football losing four of their five fixtures. A shock win over Mainz will however give them the belief that they can do it when they are up for the challenge. Stuttgart needs a win after losing their last fixture, coupled with just one win this campaign as well. What better way to do that, than against the new boys who are currently struggling, but with lacklustre performances rather than close clashes I will be backing a draw in this fixture.
Freiburg 8/10
Draw 28/10
Augsburg 31/10
(17:30)
Freiburg are proving hard to beat with three draws and two wins in their five fixtures including a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund which will give them heaps of confidence. Augsburg on the other hand have just picked up their first win last week, in a hard-fought matchup against Monchengladbach with only their second goal of the season. Freiburg at home will be too much for the opposition and at 8/10 a straight bet is the way to go.
TREBLE @ 72/10
Union Berlin Win 7/10
Eintracht Frankfurt Double Chance Win/Draw 7/10
Borussia Dortmund Win & Both Teams to Score (Yes) 37/20
