The final matchday of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season is upon us this Saturday the 14th of May from 15:30 (CAT). Starting at the bottom of the table, Arminia Bielefeld and Stuttgart need wins with hopes of other results heading in their favour to avoid relegation, while Union Berlin and RB Leipzig both need just a point to secure European competition for next season.
Let’s check out the value on offer for the final round.
Saturday 14 May
Leverkusen 15/10
Draw 28/10
Freiburg 15/10
(15:30)
Bayer Leverkusen secured Champions League football for the new season as they put together a fight when they met Hoffenheim last time out. Down 2-1 at the blow of half-time, Die Werkself turned up the heat in the second half, earning a 4-2 comeback victory. Freiburg have some permutations that could see them in the Champions League, but a win at all costs is needed first. In their last two meetings, Freiburg have been 2-1 victors, however, I can only see a result going the way of Leverkusen with three wins on the trot. Back the home side to end off the season confidently.
Augsburg 11/20
Draw 7/2
Greuther Furth 4/1
(15:30)
Before the kickoff against RB Leizpig, Augsburg knew their future in the Bundesliga was secure and took the game to a nervy Leipzig. The result was Augsburg tasting a 4-0 defeat and their fourth defeat in their last five. Greuther have been relegated for some time now, with the worst showing in the top five leagues across Europe, tallying a mere 18 points in 33 fixtures. This one is a dead rubber, close your eyes and put Augsburg in all multiples.
Borussia Dortmund 9/20
Draw 42/10
Hertha Berlin 44/10
(15:30)
The Signal Iduna Park has seen major upsets this season but finishing second, roughly 10 points behind rivals Bayern Munich has become all too familiar for Borussia Dortmund. This will be a send-off for young superstar Erling Haaland and be sure his name will shine in lights. 15th-placed Hertha Berlin need just a point, or for Stuttgart to drop points in the bid that their side stay afloat. The Berlin outfit have seemingly come to the party with a big loss in the Berlin derby to Union, but rallied together wins over Augsburg and Stuttgart, drawing to Arminia Bielefeld, but, however, recently losing 2-1 to Mainz last matchday. The fight for survival brings out the ability to grind a result and Hertha on the Draw/Win Double Chance is my play at 29/20.
Union Berlin 4/10
Draw 39/10
Bochum 56/10
(15:30)
Union Berlin have been punching above their weight since joining the Bundesliga three seasons ago, and now more so than ever securing European football via the table standings. Bochum have been secure in the league for some time, and have been going into fixtures under no pressure, making it back-to-back wins over Borussia Dortmund (4-3) and Arminia (2-1). However, Union have only lost twice in their last 32 home league fixtures against Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Get behind the home team comfortably at 4/10.
Stuttgart 11/10
Draw 28/10
Cologne 2/1
(15:30)
Stuttgart knew only a positive result would give them a chance at saving themselves form the drop and coming up against Bundesliga champion Bayern at the Allianz Arena was never going to be an easy fete. A bright start for the visitors was rewarded when Tiago Tomas swept home a brilliant effort in only the eighth minute. Stuttgart would find themselves behind at the half only for Sasa Kalajdzic to net home the equalizer in the second half, earning a point heading into the final round. Cologne need what will be a rocking Mercedes Benz Arena just as much as the home side do, so I’m backing these sides to end in a draw, but if you want to play it safe, Stuttgart will be the first team to score at 15/20.
Arminia Bielefeld 8/1
Draw 52/10
RB Leipzig 1/4
(15:30)
After back-to-back defeats for the first time under Domenico Tedesco, RB Leizpig were 4-0 victors in their penultimate Bundesliga game against Augsburg. Arminia are doomed, even if they do win and Stuttgart, who is three points above them, lose with an inferior goal difference. Back Leipzig to win to nil at 13/10.
Mainz 13/20
Draw 32/10
Eintracht Frankfurt 7/2
(15:30)
Mainz all but sunk Hertha Berlin last matchday with a 2-1 victory, their second straight victory after a four-game winless run. Eintracht Frankfurt secured their place in a Europa League final, and gifted those key players rest in the matchup with Monchengladbach and still managed a draw. You can expect more squad rotation as Frankfurt will play the final four days from the trip to Mainz. Get behind Mainz to secure a win in a fixture that will see off their home fans.
Monchengladbach 11/10
Draw 31/10
Hoffenheim 39/20
(15:30)
Hoffenheim are without a Bundesliga win in eight and have conceded eight goals in their last two successive fixtures – 3-4 Freiburg and 2-4 Bayer Leverkusen. Monchengladbach have also struggled to keep their noses clean in the backline, conceding a goal or more in nine of their last 10 home fixtures. Both Teams to Score (Yes) and Monchengladbach to get the victory at 18/10 is the way to go.
Wolfsburg 39/10
Draw 39/10
Bayern Munich 11/20
(15:30)
Since winning the league, Bayern Munich have been coasting, losing to Mainz and recently drawing 2-2 with Stuttgart. Wolfsburg are also secure in the league, and this will more likely be a friendly match than anything else. Bayern Munich will upset the end of the season for Wolfsburg faithful and take the final three points on offer. Munich at 11/20 is value in this dead rubber.
QUAD @ 11/1
Leverkusen Win 15/10
Augsburg Win 11/20
Union Berlin Win 4/10
RB Leipzig Win to Nil 13/10
