German Bundesliga: Gameweek 33 Preview

Borussia Dortmund experienced another setback in their challenge for the Bundesliga title after being held to a 2-2 draw at Werder Bremen, leaving Bayern Munich four points clear at the summit with two games to go. Should the Bavarians bank all three points against third-placed Leipzig on Saturday afternoon, they will be guaranteed the all-important title. On the relegation side of things, Hannover, Nuremburg and Stuttgart are basically just fighting for the relegation play-off position. Let’s get to this weekend’s action.

Saturday 11 May

Augsburg 5/4

Draw 51/20

Hertha Berlin 2/1

(15:30)

Both Augsburg and Hertha Berlin are safe from the drop and that might see them attack the game without any fear. The hosts are off the back of a dour goalless draw at Schalke, while Hertha Berlin extended their unbeaten run to three matches with a 3-1 home win over Stuttgart. The last three meetings between the sides have seen both teams find the back of the net. The reverse tie ended 2-2 and I’m expecting another goal fest! Follow the trend and back Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 4/10.

Hannover 33/20

Draw 26/10

Freiburg 29/20

(15:30)

Hannover need to win their two remaining matches, while hoping Nuremburg and Stuttgart suffer defeats in their respective clashes – near impossible. The best thing they can do is give their beloved fans one final victory at the HDI Arena. Freiburg are without a win in their last seven matches, including four losses. They also remain winless in their last 10 travels with three consecutive losses. Hannover have battled to score goals all season and with Freiburg’s terrible record on the road, I don’t see too many goals being scored here. Take the Under 2.5 Goals market at 16/10.

Nuremburg 3/1

Draw 29/10

Monchengladbach 8/10

(15:30)

Nuremburg are five points adrift of relegation play-off placed Stuttgart with two games remaining. Their chances of claiming that spot are slim but it can be done. The relegation-battlers are winless in their last five matches but their opponents haven’t been much better. Monchengladbach are without a victory in their last three games but if results go their way, they could possible jump from sixth to fourth spot. Both sides have it all to play for and goals look a certainty here. Both Halves Over 1.5 Goals – Yes – offers plenty of value at 5/2!

Hoffenheim 5/10

Draw 39/10

Werder Bremen 17/4

(15:30)

Hoffenheim are off the back of a hard-fought 2-2 draw away to Monchengladbach and will be desperate to build on that with the UEFA Champions League places still a possibility. Werder Bremen are winless in three games, but are coming off a well-deserved 2-2 draw at home against Dortmund. Surprisingly, the last four meetings between these sides have lacked goalmouth action. Although, I do feel the hosts will capitalize on home advantage, I also think both sides should get on the scoresheet. Take Matchbet & Both Teams to Score with Hoffenheim and Yes at 21/20.

Dortmund 3/10

Draw 47/10

Dusseldorf 7/1

(15:30)

Dortmund’s title hopes rest in the hands of their rivals but at the same time, they need to make sure they bag maximum points. Newcomers Dusseldorf will be grateful for finishing well above the drop zone and will be looking to finish the season strong. However, I can’t see them getting one over BVB, especially on hostile territory. Dortmund have won 13 of their 16 home games and are tipped on the Half-time/Full-time win at 7/10.

Bayer Leverkusen 4/10

Draw 4/1

Schalke 57/10

(15:30)

Bayer Leverkusen have been in rampant form with four wins on the spin, scoring 13 goals and conceding just twice. Schalke have managed only two wins from their last 16 games in all competitions and that doesn’t look likely to improve here. Leverkusen won the corresponding fixture 2-1 and will be looking to complete the double over the Royal Blues. Top four is in their sight so expect the hosts to come out firing on all cylinders. Take Leverkusen on the (-1) Handicap at 9/10.

Leipzig 4/10

Draw 3/1

Bayern Munich 7/10

(15:30)

Leipzig are unbeaten in their last 14 league games with 10 wins and though they failed to give a genuine title-challenge, they will be more than happy to stop Bayern Munich in their tracks. The defending champions need a win to lift the title but I’m predicting a twist in the tale. The Red Bulls won this fixture 2-1 last season and that should give them even more confidence that they can get the job done. However, if you prefer a safer bet, get on the Leipzig Win/Draw Double Chance at 21/20.

Stuttgart 19/10

Draw 26/10

Wolfsburg 13/10

(15:30)

A win for Stuttgart will ensure they continue their quest for survival via relegation play-offs. They did manage an impressive 1-0 home win over Monchengladbach in their last match on their ground but three losses from their last four matches leaves a lot to be desired on the tipping front. Wolfsburg have won back-to-back matches, scoring six goals and conceding just once. A chance to make top four is on the cards but that is also pending results. A cagey affair looks likely with the draw tipped at 26/10.

Sunday 12 May

Eintracht Frankfurt 11/20

Draw 36/10

Mainz 17/4

(18:00)

Eintracht Frankfurt are winless in their last four matches, putting their Champions League chances in jeopardy. 12th-place Mainz have been underwhelming at best this season and have suffered on their travels with 11 losses from 16 games, including seven defeats, scoring only three goals and conceding 20 times. The Eagles have won the last four meetings at home against Mainz. That’s enough stats and facts to point me in the right direction. The home win looks a banker bet at 11/20.

TREBLE @ 4/1

Dortmund HT-FT Win 7/10

Leverkusen (-1) Handicap 9/10

Ein. Frankfurt Win 11/20
