German Bundesliga: Gameweek 20 Preview

RB Leipzig

Last week’s 27/1 quad was let down by Cologne failing to score against Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, we go again and have a 13/1 quad on offer this time around. Let’s get straight into the action!

Friday 21 January
Eintracht Frankfurt 15/20
Draw 28/10
Arminia Bielefeld 7/2
(21:30)
Eintracht Frankfurt and Arminia Bielefeld open proceedings on Friday night at Deutsche Bank Park with both teams desperate to get back to winnings ways. Since resuming their campaigns two weeks ago, the Eagles lost 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund and come off last Sunday’s 1-1 draw away at Augsburg.

Meanwhile, Arminia Bielefeld come off back-to-back stalemates with Freiburg (2-2) and Greuther Furth (2-2). The last time these sides met, Eintracht Frankfurt were on a slump and settled for a 1-1 draw.

This time around I suggest adding the home team to all your weekend multiples.

Saturday 22 January

Freiburg 9/10
Draw 51/20
Stuttgart 3/1
(16:30)
Freiburg are slowly losing ground on a chasing pack of teams that are hunting their Europa League qualifying position on the standings. The Breisgau Brazilians’ two wins in nine Bundesliga matches doesn’t read well and needs to improve immediately.

Stuttgart failed to score for the fourth week running in the defeat to RB Leipzig, while suffering a league double to the hosts last season (3-2 & 2-1). The home win is the safe way to go, although, if you’re searching for extra value, select Freiburg Win & Both Teams To Score (Yes) at 3/1.
Bayer Leverkusen 4/10
Draw 38/10
Augsburg 56/10
(16:30)
Bayer Leverkusen snapped a five-match winless streak across all competitions with a 2-1 victory over Monchengladbach away at Borussia Park thanks to goals by Robert Andrich and Patrik Schick. Despite the poor spell of results, Bayer Leverkusen remain unbeaten on home soil in six games, including wins over Real Betis and Celtic in the Europa League.

Augsburg managed to hold on for a draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, which stretched the visitors winless run to four games and still leaves them precariously hovering above the relegation zone.

This is very straight-forward with Bayer Leverkusen winning six of the previous seven meetings between these opponents.

Borussia Monchengladbach 11/10
Draw 49/20
Union Berlin 24/10
(16:30)
Defender Nico Elvedi scored a consolation goal for Borussia Monchengladbach during last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, a week after beating Bayern Munich – which is their only victory in six league games.

Meanwhile, Union Berlin have the Champions League positions in their sights after beating Hoffenheim 2-1 in the capital with Andreas Voglsammer and Grischa Promel cancelling out Timo Baumgartl’s own goal.

My money is firmly on Both Teams To Score (Yes) to come home flying for the fifth straight meetings between these teams at 13/20.
Greuther Furth 33/10
Draw 26/10
Mainz 8/10
(16:30)
Mainz come into this clash with rock-bottom Greuther Furth as massive favourites to claim back-to-back victories after edging out a 1-0 win over Bochum. Mainz have been claiming their points on home soil, but struggled on their travels, however, they are now presented with a perfect opportunity to change it.

Greuther Furth come off three consecutive draws with Augsburg, Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld, but my money says Mainz can’t lose this tie.
Hoffenheim 2/1
Draw 29/10
Borussia Dortmund 11/10
(16:30)
Hoffenheim’s seven-game unbeaten streak was ended last time out away at Union Berlin and will be desperate to hold onto their fourth position in the standings which guarantees passage to the UEFA Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund didn’t disappoint last Friday, beating Freiburg 5-1 which saw our 37/20 prediction come home flying. With Borussia Dortmund trailing champions Bayern Munich by just six points, BVB can’t afford to drop further off the pace.

Borussia Dortmund Win & Both Teams To Score (Yes) is my play at 23/10.
Bochum 43/20
Draw 49/20
Cologne 5/4
(19:30)
Bochum entertain Cologne at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion in Saturday’s late kick-off. Thomas Reis’ troops have won three of their last six games on home soil, while sharing the spoils in a 1-1 stalemate with Borussia Dortmund.

Cologne’s three-game winning streak ended with a 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. Although, two of those victories came away at Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin, which doesn’t bode well for Bochum’s chances. Take Cologne to claim a league double over the new boys.
Sunday 23 January

RB Leipzig 5/10
Draw 34/10
Wolfsburg 46/10
(16:30)
Back-to-back wins over Mainz (4-1) and Stuttgart (2-0) has lifted RB Leipzig into seventh place on the Bundesliga log. Wolfsburg’s goalless draw with Hertha Berlin stretched the visitors winless streak to eight games and now find themselves two points from safety.

Portuguese striker Andre Silva continues his rich vein of form, scoring eight times in nine matches. RB Leipzig to win is the way to go, but if you’re looking for value take Andre Silva in the Anytime Goalscorer market.
Hertha Berlin 8/1
Draw 54/10
Bayern Munich 1/4
(18:30)
The defending champions Bayern Munich travel to the capital to lock horns with Hertha Berlin in search of their fifth consecutive victory on their travels. Hertha Berlin, on the other hand, have failed to claim maximum points since returning to action after the short December break.

The Bavarians ran riot in a 5-0 win over Hertha earlier this season, I suggest backing Away Win To Nil (Yes) at 27/20.

QUAD @ 13/1
Eintracht Frankfurt Win 15/20
Bayer Leverkusen Win 4/10
Mainz Win 8/10
Borussia Dortmund Win & BTTS (Yes) 23/10
