German Bundesliga: Gameweek 14 Preview

Florian Wirtz

The league of excellence puts on display the cream of the crop when Borussia Dortmund battle it out at the top with Bayern Munich. Erling Haaland has made an early return and Robert Lewandowski continues to rattle the net alongside a star-studded line-up.

There is so much more on offer that will leave you confident in your slips including a 15/1 multiple.

Friday 3 December
Union Berlin 3/1
Draw 26/10
RB Leipzig 17/20
(21:30)
The gap between 12th placed and 5th in the Bundesliga is just two points and the table will be shuffling yet again when the love of my Bundesliga, Union Berlin, face off with sub-par RB Leipzig. RB Leipzig have score at least one goal against Union in their past eight ties but, back-to-back losses and failing to score against Hoffenheim in a 2-0 defeat means a little disaster in the Red Bull camp. Delving into the stats for 2021/22, Union Berlin have been spearheaded by Taiwo Awoniyi with eight goals to date. The Berlin outfit have failed to score in but one fixture this season with just one home defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich. Bet on the home team to win and if you want a juicy Christmas add some goals to the mix.

Saturday 4 December

Bayer Leverkusen 1/4
Draw 54/10
Greuther Furth 17/2
(16:30)
Every gameweek I will sing the same song; bet everything you have on the team facing Greuther Furth. Furth did take their opportunities in their 3-6 defeat to Hoffenheim. The rock bottom of the table club scored more than one goal in a single match for the first time this season, and that can be seen as the first positive thus far. Bayer Leverkusen are at the top of the pack in third, and despite being seven points of the pace they will want to separate from those below. All in on the home team to win both halves at 14/10.

Hoffenheim 19/20
Draw 28/10
Eintracht Frankfurt 5/2
(16:30)
Both sides are currently playing exceptionally well. Hoffenheim have found their feet after a really rocky start while Eintracht Frankfurt have been on a three-game blitz. Die Kraichgauer have won four of their last five in all competitions, but it seems like a lapse of concentration will plague them for the season. Their last loss was a shock 2-0 defeat to Bochum, but what better way to bounce back against RB Leipzig and score six against Greuther Furth. After also upsetting the odds and losing 2-0 to Bochum Eintracht drew 1-1 with Leipzig and winning by scoring two goals against Greuther, Freiburg, and Union Berlin. Form is in favour of both teams, but Eintracht are plagued by tired legs after battling it out in Europa League during the midweek, and December will be no easier. There is enough value on Hoffenheim to have a good side bet, but don’t add it to any multiple.

Mainz 15/10
Draw 22/10
Wolfsburg 37/20
(16:30)
I am lost for words with Wolfsburg, they blow hot and cold like a teenage relationship, one minute he likes me, the next he doesn’t. One minute Die Wolfe are banging out results in the Champions League, the next they’re losing club friendlies and then drawing fixtures in the league while they sit seventh. If Mainz can beat Wolfsburg, they will jump them on the table, but you just never know what opposition will show up. The draw no bet option on Mainz is a comfortable bet at 15/20.

Augsburg 13/10
Draw 47/20
Bochum 2/1
(16:30)
Win then lose, win then lose Augsburg and Bochum are in the same boat. Augsburg were able to jump that ship last time out drawing 1-1 with Hertha Berlin. While Bochum’s inconsistency remains, the urgency to get off the bottom of the table is quite evident really putting their all into every game irrespective of who they play. I am trying to make that Christmas bonus bigger than usual so backing a winner in this fixture will have to be Bochum for their bravery in trying to find the finish.

Arminia Bielefeld 43/20
Draw 49/20
Cologne 12/10
(16:30)
After drawing six of their last ten Cologne finally got off the mark beating a tough Monchengladbach 4-1 in front of their home crowd. The Billy Goats do not lack a fragile confidence despite a sluggish start to the campaign and going into the Christmas period is definitely a time to begin a big push for points. Arminia are not in a good position and with just one win for the season, I do not see them picking up their socks any time soon. Bet on the away team in full confidence.
Borussia Dortmund 5/2
Draw 32/10
Bayern Munich 17/20
(19:30)

Sunday 5 December

Stuttgart 13/10
Draw 49/20
Hertha Berlin 2/1
(16:30)
15th versus 14th separated by a single point is it Stuttgart to jump Hertha Berlin in this Sunday afternoon’s fixture? No, I do not believe it is. While Stuttgart have finally found their first win since the beginning of October, their marking has not been tight enough or forceful in any capacity particularly in set pieces. There are no compliments coming the way of Hertha Berlin either also having but just two wins in the past two months. Bet on the stalemate here.

Borussia Monchengladbach 8/10
Draw 29/10
Freiburg 29/10
(18:30)
Borussia Monchengladbach fell under the pressure of Cologne breathing down their necks on the table last time out losing 4-1 on the road. They have the opportunity to recover when they face a depleting Freiburg to close out the Bundesliga game week. Monchengladbach can still have faith in their right winger Jonas Hoffman to find the net, after he scored in their defeat last match to make it seven goals for the campaign. Three losses in a row for Freiburg to teams across the table means there is a definite slump in the camp and backing the home team is my play.

TREBLE @ 15/1
Union Berlin Win 3/1
Cologne Win 12/10
Borussia Monchengladbach Win 8/10
