German Bundesliga: Gameweek 12 Preview

The Berlin Derby

The league of German excellence is back! And back with one of the biggest fixtures it has to offer alongside the staples.

In the match of the weekend, Union Berlin and Hertha Berlin meet again on matchday 12 in a fixture that brings together football, politics and history in a once divided city.

I’m all in on our multiple for the weekend and I believe you should be too.

Friday 19 November
Augsburg 10/1
Draw 6/1
Bayern Munich 1/5
(21:30)
The last time these two met, a comprehensive 5-2 scoreline ensued in favour of the obvious Bayern Munich. The Bavarians have not lost to Augsburg in 13 consecutive matches and for all intents and purposes I cannot see that changing this weekend. We’re trying to find value, as the straight bet is not an option. Bayern score on average 3.40 goals per game this season alone, including 6 corners and 1.2 cards per game. If anything, backing the goals or corners market wherever you can find value will be key. For me, Bayern and over 2.5 is a certainty at 4/10.

Saturday 20 November

Borussia Dortmund 7/20
Draw 44/10
Stuttgart 6/1
(16:30)
Borussia Dortmund are back at the infamous Signal Iduna Park for a Bundesliga encounter after three long weeks. Six wins out of six games played at home through the campaign, and you can bet they’re going to keep going strong. VfB Stuttgart have lost 10 of their last 13 Bundesliga encounters with the Black and Yellows failing to keep a clean sheet in any of these matches. One thing to note, is that this rivalry is fierce and the last time these two met at Dortmund’s home, Stuttgart won 5-1 to record their biggest ever away victory. However, the away team have won just two of their 11 matches this season without an away win. Bet on the favourites with both teams to score (yes) at 31/20.

Borussia Monchengladbach 2/7
Draw 48/10
Greuther Furth 8/1
(16:30)
This fixture is not one to dive deeply into. Monchengladbach are the better team by a longshot despite, sitting 9th on the table. Their opposition makes the gap that big by their own results, yet to win a fixture 18th on the table with just one point. The home team are sure bets and even though it might be short, it’s a banker for the multiple.

Hoffenheim 3/1
Draw 31/10
RB Leipzig 15/20
(16:30)
Hoffenheim are by far underdogs in this matchup, but they come into this tie being one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Bundesliga this season. Over their past six fixtures, the sum of 23 goals have been scored for both teams at an average of 3.83 goals per game. While these stats may fare well on the eyes, Leipzig are a solid team and despite Julian Nagelsmann departing, Jesse Marsch has established a good tempo in their play that is almost consistent with what they did so well before. There are individual stars that are slowly starting to mix well with the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Yussuf Poulsen heading the attack. 15/20 is a great price on Leipzig, so don’t pass the value up.

Arminia Bielefeld 29/10
Draw 5/2
Wolfsburg 9/10
(16:30)
Arminia Bielefeld are on the back of an away win bounce back against Stuttgart, while Wolfsburg seem to have made a turnaround under new manager Florian Kohfeldt with back-to-back wins, both with clean sheets. In the international break, Wolfsburg were able to keep the momentum having played a friendly match. Wolfsburg at 9/10 is something you cannot pass up with the run they’re on.

Union Berlin 11/10
Draw 47/20
Hertha Berlin 51/20
(19:30)
Union Berlin and Hertha Berlin meet again on in a fixture that brings together football, politics, and history in a once divided city. The big one! One of the biggest atmospheres between “smaller” clubs, the Berlin derby that matters! In the Bundesliga, Union and Hertha have both never lost at their respective homes, giving an indication of what this means to the fans and what the fans mean to their teams. Union recently were knocked off their home record of 21 games unbeaten and will look to regain that pride and what better way to start than in the Berlin derby. Hertha, on the other hand, have had some harsh defeats this season, with just two wins in their last five but their latter being a comprehensive draw to Leverkusen. There is so much to say about this fixture and I’m truly excited to watch it, but I do believe this will result in a draw.

Sunday 21 November
Freiburg 11/10
Draw 51/20
Eintracht Frankfurt 47/20
(16:30)
Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt lock horns for the 29th time in the Bundesliga but the table suggests that one has used their history and the other has not. Freiburg are flying high in third place with 22 points while their opposition Eintracht Frankfurt are 14th with a mere 12 points. Freiburg’s only loss this season was a close shave 2-1 away loss to big boys Bayern Munich. Bet Freiburg on this matchup.
Mainz 11/10
Draw 5/2
Cologne 9/4
(20:30)
Closing off the first week back in the Bundesliga, Mainz and Cologne who sit three points adrift on the table. The Billy Goats are undefeated in their last seven fixtures as opposed to Mainz’ three. There is a definite goal in this fixture, and I say that because in each of Cologne’s last 12 Bundesliga fixtures they have found the net and you can bet on them to score again. Back the fixed totals away team on Over 1.5 at 29/20.

QUAD @ 5/1
Bayern Munich Win & Over 2.5 Goals 4/10
Borussia Monchengladbach Win 2/7
RB Leipzig Win 15/20
Freiburg Win 11/10
