Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is reportedly considering leaving the club despite being considered an important member of the squad.
Spanish news outlet MARCA has claimed, the 24-year-old is considering leaving after being tired of getting substituted by coach Xavi Hernandez when the side is struggling, this despite Barcelona’s director Jordi Cruyff recently saying they consider him vital in the teams future.
De Jong has featured in 19 league matches under Xavi this term. But he has played the whole ninety minutes in only seven of them.
The report claims he is looking at an exit at the end of the season amid rumours doing the rounds that Manchester United among others interested in his services.
United’s new coach is Erik ten Hag who has worked with De Jong before and has a great rapport with the midfielder.
It remains to be seen if there is any truth to this as De Jong and coach Xavi have had a great working relationship.
