The big guns are back with both PSG and Monaco in action following their Coup de la Ligue final. |
The big guns are back with both PSG and Monaco in action this weekend. PSG got the better of Monaco in the Coup de la Ligue last week running out 4-1 victors. Will that result have a psychological effect on the current League leaders? We’ll find out Saturday.
Friday 7 April
27/20 Lille | Draw 21/10 | Nice 43/20 (20:45)
Lille continued to pull further away from the from the relegation zone as they beat Bastia 1-0 last Saturday. The result has all but assured their survival, so they may feel they can cut lose from here on in. Nice also come into this one off the back of a victory as they saw off Bordeaux by a 2-1 scoreline. The result has seen them move within four points of Monaco, but they have now played a game more than the league leaders as well as second-placed PSG. I’ll be avoiding the straight win market here and backing Both Teams to Score – Yes – at a decent 19/20.
Saturday 8 April
33/10 Angers | 26/10 | Monaco 15/20 (17:00)
Saturday’s first fixture sees Angers take on Monaco. The hosts were brought crashing back down to earth last week as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Nantes. Monaco were also on the wrong end of a result as they went down 4-1 to PSG in the Coup de la Ligue. Monaco should be fresh and ready for this one as a few of their star men were rested for the cup game. As such, my money is on Monaco bouncing back in style. Get on the away win at a kind 15/20!
14/10 Caen | 9/4 | Montpellier 39/20 (20:00)
Moving on to Saturday’s second fixture now, which sees Caen take on Montpellier. The hosts are now only five points off the relegation zone after they went down to Lorient in gameweek 31. Montpellier also come into this one off the back of a 1-0 away loss, although their defeat came at the hands of a much stronger side than Lorient, in the form of Toulouse. I suspect we may be in for a cagey affair here with both teams sure to be happy with a point. As such, my money is going on the Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market which is currently trading at 8/10.
31/20 Nancy | 39/20 | Rennes 19/10 (20:00)
Nancy need to start picking up points fast as they currently sit in 18th-place on the standings. Rennes are in a much more comfortable position and have little to play for with European qualification a few points too far away and their survival already assured. I quite fancy the hosts here. Rennes have little to play for while Nancy desperately need a win. I can see this desperation firing Nancy to a crucial victory.
17/20 Dijon | 24/10 | Bastia 32/10 (20:00)
Our final Saturday fixture pits Dijon up against Bastia. The hosts managed to claim a crucial win last week and now sit a point off 17th-placed Nancy. Bastia, on the other hand, continued their run of wretched form as they were beaten by Lille, with the result leaving them four points off safety. Bastia seem destined for the drop this term, which is quite sad considering that they got off to such a solid start. I reckon Dijon will further their woes by inflicting another heartbreaking defeat upon this beleaguered Bastia outfit.
Sunday 9 April
7/4 Toulouse | 22/10 | Marseille 31/20 (15:00)
Toulouse and Marseille will open up proceedings this Sunday. The visitors have been in decent touch and are undefeated in three but Toulouse are an extremely tough proposition on their own patch. The last five games between the sides have ended in either 1-1 or 0-0 stalemates. And while I’m not bold enough to tip an exact score draw, I will happily back the draw market at a solid 22/10.
1/1 St. Etienne | 22/10 | Nantes 29/10 (17:00)
The penultimate game of week 32 sees St. Etienne host Nantes. Both sides sit inside the top eight but only St. Etienne have a realistic chance of grabbing one of the Europa League qualification berths. I think this could be a rather open fixture with both teams having decent strikers to call upon. Ultimately, though, I see St. Etienne coming out on top in a high-scoring affair.
2/13 PSG | 13/2 | Guingamp 13/1 (21:00)
We close out the gameweek with an absolute banker in the form of a PSG victory. While the hosts are awfully short at 2/13, I cannot see the visitors spring a surprise here. For those in search of some added value, get on the PSG (-1) Handicap at 4/10!
TREBLE @ 7/2
Monaco Win 15/20
Dijon Win 17/20
PSG (-1) Handicap 4/10
