French Ligue 1 Preview

The summit of the table looks changed with Nice occupying top-spot after Monaco’s failure to win at Lille. Here’s what to look forward to in week 11 as the action continues in Ligue 1!

Friday, 3 November

PSG 2/7 | Draw 48/10 | Montpellier 7/1

PSG and Brest gave us an entertaining encounter at the Stade Francis-Le Ble last Sunday, with Luise Enrique’s men emerging victorious by 3-2 courtesy of a late Kylian Mbappe goal from the spot after Dembele was fouled in the box. This Friday, they play host to Montpellier who also enjoyed a good week where they defeated Toulouse by 3-0 at home. Another great game in prospect – I see a PSG win at 2/7.

Saturday, 04 November

Lorient 32/10 | Draw 26/10 | Lens 8/10

Lena are unbeaten in their last five league matches ahead of their encounter with 15th Lorient on Saturday. The hosts have been falling down the table with each passing match week with one win in five. They have conceded in each of their last nine/ matches and boast the worst defense in the division. For that, Lens are favorites to win this at 8/10.

Marseille 12/10 | Draw 5/2 | LOSC Lille 2/1

Marseille is finding it hard to lift themselves out of the middle of the table as a result of inconsistent results. One win from their last five games is not good enough, and their next clash against Lille will be a tough test for them at home. Lille are unbeaten since September and have found the back of the net in their last four matches in all competitions. Back them on away win at 2/1.

Sunday, 5 November

Lyon 13/20 | Draw 29/10 | Metz 36/10

Strugglers Lyon continue to search for their first win of the season with nine games played already. Their crucial encounter with Marseille was postponed after the team bus was attacked on their way to the stadium on Sunday. They face another struggling side in Metz on Sunday and another defeat here will surely demolish their chances of surviving another season in the league. Get behind the draw here – 29/10

Toulouse 11/10 | Draw 47/20 | Le Havre 47/20

Toulouse sit in 12th spot but level on 11 points with their opponents Le Havre, who they meet at home on Sunday afternoon. Both sides dropped points last weekend, with Toulouse taking a 3-0 defeat against Montpellier while Havre were held to a goalless draw by Metz. Havre have not scored in their last four games and will not be able to get the better of Toulouse here. The hosts to win at 11/10.

Nantes 37/20 | Draw 47/20 | Reims 27/20

A top of the table encounter is on the cards as Nantes welcome Reims to the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday. Both these sides have been in fine form in recent weeks and should produce a cracker of a game when they meet. Nantes’ matches have been entertaining this season, with goals almost a certainty whenever they take the field. But Reims have been even more impressive – losing just once in their last five games. Both Teams to Score (NO) – 1/1.

Strasbourg 13/10 | Draw 43/20 | Clermont Foot 21/10

Another struggling side, Clermont Foot are in action this weekend as they visit Strasbourg who are also winless in their last four games. The hosts will fancy a real opportunity to bounce back to winning ways with this fixture but should be careful not to fall into a trap where Foot can upset them in their own backyard. Strasbourg to win this at 13/10.

Monaco 7/10 | Draw 3/1 | Brest 34/10

Monaco have fallen from the summit of the table to third position after losing to Lille on Sunday. They face Brest next and will look to add to their woes after they have suffered two successive defeats in the league. Brest have also conceded in each of their last three league games, and I cannot see them keeping out Monaco the entire match. Monaco to lead at Half-time – 12/10.

Nice 11/10 | Draw 47/20 | Rennes 23/10

New log leaders Nice will have an opportunity to cement their name at the summit when they face Rennes at home on Sunday afternoon. Nice have won their last three matches with a 1-0 score line and are proving to be good enough to challenge any side. Rennes have just hit a slight dip in form with their last league win coming at the beginning of October against 10-man Nantes. Nice to win at home – 11/20.
