Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has been named UEFA’s Best Player in Europe.
The Frenchman, who helped Bayern win the Champions League in a treble triumph last season, beat off competition from Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid.
The accolade, in its third year of existence, was previously held by Barca’s Andres Iniesta and Messi. Journalists representing the 53 UEFA nations voted on the prize allocation.
