Former Bafana Bafana and Crystal Palace star Dikgacoi lands new coaching role

Kagisho Dikgacoi, a renowned former Bafana Bafana midfielder and English Premier League star with Crystal Palace, has secured a new coaching position ahead of the upcoming season.

After leading Mangaung Unite, a Free State-based ABC Motsepe League team, to the SAFA national playoffs last season, Dikgacoi has now been appointed as a co-coach of Mpumalanga’s Phezulu FC.

The club announced his arrival on social media, stating, “We are pleased to announce that Kagisho Dikgacoi will be joining our technical team,” reads the club’s statement.

“Coach Kagisho Dikgacoi and coach Farai Mujokoro will be co-coaches for the club this upcoming 2024/25 season. Help us in giving coach Dikgacoi a warm welcome.”

Phezulu FC has expressed its ambition to compete for promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship and has set its sights on qualifying for the Nedbank Cup Last 32.

Since retiring from professional football in 2018, Dikgacoi has been actively involved in coaching. This year, he announced plans to establish the Kagisho Dikgacoi Academy of Excellence in Bloemfontein, offering training for young players aged 10 to 17. To further enhance his coaching credentials, Dikgacoi has recently obtained both the CAF D and English FA Scouting Licenses.
