Marumo Gallants coach Romain Folz felt his team were the better side despite losing 1-0 to Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday.
Paseka Mako scored the only goal of the game in the third minute at the Orlando Stadium to hand Gallants just their first defeat of the season.get-go
While the result lifted Pirates to the top of the table, Gallants slumped to the bottom of the standings.
Speaking after the game, the young coach told SuperSport: “I think we were a better team in the field but as you can see being the team does not get you the win.
“I think I can only blame myself for the loss today, conceding a goal after three minutes, it puts yourself in a difficult situation from the get-wasgo.
“We played well, we know we have goals, we know we can match up with the big clubs around here, we know we can do that but at the end of the day it’s not enough.”
Gallants had drawn their four opening league ties, scoring just three goals.
Folz added: “If you do a better game than the opposition and end up with a loss it’s not worth it, so we need to be more focused in key moments of the game, the start of the game is one of them.
“It’s a silly mistake that we made with a ball into space like that on a situation that is not even built by the opponent, so we only have ourselves to blame.”
