Feutmba: Shalulile still has options

Roger Feutmba says Peter Shalulile’s new long-term Mamelodi Sundowns contract doesn’t rule the striker out of a potential move overseas.

The Namibian 2021/22 DStv Premiership Footballer of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season recently penned a new five-year extension to his contract with the DStv Premiership champions.
Shalulile has been a sensation for Sundowns since signing from Highlands Park in 2020, scoring 52 goals in just 84 appearances.
And speaking to KickOff, the former Brazilian explained that Shalulile’s current situation gives him a good level of security.
He said: “Signing a five-year deal is not a bad thing if you don’t have the opportunity you are looking for.

“So him signing the five-year deal doesn’t mean he will not go overseas, or Europe in the future.

“It depends on which team shows interest and whether they can compensate Sundowns’ needs.

“So signing a new contract doesn’t stop a player from going to a Manchester United or other European side if they pay the right amount asked by Sundowns.

“That’s football, if he doesn’t have an opportunity somewhere he has to secure his future at Sundowns.

“They want him to be there, they want him to feel secure. It’s a sign that Sundowns believe he still has a lot to offer, and that is a good thing.”
