Mamelodi Sundowns legend Roger Feutmba admits that to be drawn against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League group stages is tough but believes Downs have what it takes to progress past the Egyptian Giants.
The Brazilians have been drawn in Group A alongside 10-time champions Al Ahly plus Al-Merrikh Sporting Club and Al-Hilal Club both from Sudan.
Al Ahly are coached by former Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, who knocked them out of the competition last season winning 3-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
“It’s very good that both teams can meet again, though it’s unfortunate that one of the biggest teams in the African continent will be out,” Feutmba told Soccer Laduma.
“Sundowns is a good team and it won’t be easy for Al Ahly. There’s unfinished business between those two teams and I believe Sundowns have learned a lesson from the last encounter. I hope they don’t go there with emotions.”
Feutmba added that despite the tough draw if Sundowns prepare well be backs them to get past Al Ahly to reach the quarter-final stage.
“I believe they can go all the way if they prepare themselves very well – this time they don’t need to go with emotions.”
