Basadien: It’s really GREAT to be back
Fawaaz Basadien says it’s “really good to be back” home following his switch from Swallows to Stellenbosch.
Fawaaz Basadien, born on December 23, 1996, is a talented South African soccer player known for his prowess as a defender in the Premier Soccer League, where he currently represents Stellenbosch.
Basadien’s journey to success includes playing for Milano United, Cape Town City, Ubuntu Cape Town, and Steenberg United before making a significant move to Moroka Swallows in 2020. His debut in the first-tier league took place during the 2020-21 South African Premier Division.
Following a challenging season in the 2021-22 South African Premier Division with Swallows, Basadien transitioned to Stellenbosch on a two-year contract. His impact was evident as he contributed to Stellenbosch’s victory in the Carling Black Label Cup in 2023.
Additionally, his outstanding performance earned him a spot in the preliminary Bafana Bafana squad ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Amidst speculations about a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs during the 2023–24 season, Basadien opted to extend his contract with Stellenbosch, reaffirming his commitment to the team.
