England and Croatia have been drawn in Group D for the 2020 European Championship after the draw was made on Saturday night.
England, guided by Gareth Southgate, recaptured the hearts of the fans after reaching the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, where they were knocked out by Croatia before losing to Belgium in the third-fourth play-off.
The Three Lions won seven of their nine qualifying games for Euro 2020, suffering just the one blip en route to topping Group A, and they have evaded the dreaded group of death for the group stage of the tournament.
Drawn in Group D, England kick off their campaign against Croatia on June 14 before taking on the winner of play-off round C, which will be Scotland, Israel, Serbia or Norway, and then the Czech Republic.
All three of the Three Lions’ matches will be played on home soil at Wembley as they look to win the coveted event for the first time, having finished third in 1968 and 1996.
If England win Group D, they will face the runner-up of Group F, which looks the toughest group on paper. Defending champions Portugal have been drawn against world champions France, Germany and the winner of play-off A, which will be Bulgaria, Iceland, Hungary or Romania.
As for Wales, they have handed a difficult draw in Group A, where they will kick off against Switzerland before games against Turkey and Italy. The Dragons sensationally reached the semi-finals of the 2016 European Championship, where they were knocked out 2-0 by eventual winners Portugal.
In regard to the two Irish teams, the Republic and Northern, they will go into Group E if they manage to get through play-off B. Spain, Sweden and Poland await either the ROI, NI, Bosnia and Herzegovina or Slovakia.
In Group B, Denmark, Finland, Belgium and Russia have been drawn together, while the Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria and the winner of play-off D, which contains Georgia, Belarus, Kosovo and North Macedonia, are in Group C.
