AmaZulu FC has secured the services of Mamelodi Sundowns forward Etiosa Ighodaro on a season-long loan deal. The young Nigerian striker expressed his excitement about joining Usuthu and believes the move will provide him with the platform to showcase his talent.
Ighodaro, who has previously had loan spells at SuperSport United and Chippa United, highlighted AmaZulu’s professionalism as a key factor in his decision to join the Durban-based outfit.
I’ve played against AmaZulu several times and they’ve always impressed me with their structure,” he said.
“The professionalism here is top-notch. It’s one of the best clubs in South Africa when it comes to professionalism”.
The 23-year-old is eager to get regular game time after spending the previous season at SuperSport United. “I’m still young. I rather come here and play than be at Sundowns when (where) they don’t think I am ready,” he explained.
Ighodaro is confident in his ability to find the back of the net consistently. “I didn’t get as many minutes at SuperSport,” he admitted. “Hopefully this season, I get more playing time and score more than I scored last season – that is my target.”
The Nigerian striker is looking forward to the challenge of proving himself at AmaZulu and hopes to make a lasting impression.“At the end of the season, I will see what happens. This is another big platform for me to showcase myself so I am just focused on that.”
With his pace, power, and goal-scoring instincts, Ighodaro could be a valuable asset to AmaZulu. The club’s fans will be hoping that he can help them challenge for honors this season.
