Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler says his side will need to “step up” if they are to take anything from an in-form Marumo Gallants on Tuesday.
The Citizens head into this tie in 10th place on the DStv Premiership standings with just three wins from 14 games.
They were held to a 0-0 draw by struggling Baroka last time out and now face a Gallants side that have won their past three matches, to rise to within a point of City.
Speaking ahead of the midweek tie, Tinkler said on IOL: “We didn’t perform to our capabilities against Baroka. We made the game tougher. Baroka created the better chances. Hugo [Marques] had to make a good save on the penalty to keep us in the game.
“We now go up against Marumo Gallants who are on a high. It’s four (*three) games on the bounce that they have won, so their confidence is on a high.
“We are going to have to step up if we want anything from that game.”
