I know I can’t keep saying this…but what a weekend! What a league! Your attention has been captured, your plans made contingent on the action and your emotions all over the place! It’s Premier League football at its finest!
There were literally as many goals this past week as there are exclamation marks in this preview – are you not entertained!?
Saturday 27 August
Southampton 32/10
Draw 29/10
Manchester United 8/10
(13:30)
Manchester United were as close to unplayable as I’ve seen them in ages! They were incredibly powerful in possession but more impressive was their approach to the game without the football. Southampton are dangerous, however, if United replicate that level of energy and intent the Saints cannot keep up. Get on the away side.
Chelsea 4/10
Draw 4/1
Leicester City 13/2
(16:00)
See feature game on page 3.
Brighton 9/10
Draw 26/10
Leeds 3/1
(16:00)
Leeds was incredible last weekend, their unrelenting and intentional approach to their Chelsea game should be celebrated from the hilltops. They wanted to impose their style on the Blues, succeeded, and were rewarded with three points. Brighton is superbly organized, and I think they could be a real threat to Leeds at home. This should be a cracker – but back the home side.
Manchester City 1/6
Draw 13/2
Crystal Palace 14/1
(16:00)
Palace is in a great place now. They backed their performance against Liverpool up with a 3-1 hammering of Aston Villa. The Eagles will have a lot of confidence coming into this one and should it have been at Selhurst Park, well I might have been inclined to entertain them a little more. Nevertheless, City will respond, no doubt about it. Get on City and Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 33/20.
Liverpool 1/11
Draw 9/1
Bournemouth 25/1
(16:00)
Liverpool was flat and placid at Old Trafford. Their energy and approach to the game was almost off-putting at times. Should Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, or Jürgen Klopp be associated with United they would have been absolutely slated! Anyway, surely the mighty Reds respond here against the lowly Cherries? You know, lowest hanging fruit and all… Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 33/20 looks attractive.
Brentford 1/1
Draw 49/20
Everton 28/10
(16:00)
I really enjoy Brentford, and when they play at home, I think they are a banker against most. Certainly, against Everton! The Toffees badly need to string together a couple positive performances and whilst I don’t think they are particularly playing terribly… they just lack confidence. Back Brentford.
Arsenal 3/10
Draw 48/10
Fulham 15/2
(18:30)
Fulham will have a crack – you can be sure about that. They showed against Liverpool that would not be entertained by a big name. Fulham were unlucky early on but have now gotten that all important first win in place. Arsenal have made a great start to the season, and Gabriel Jesus has made the difference. The hype around his arrival has been justified and Arsenal just have a different feel about them now. Gabriel Jesus (7/10) as well as Aleksandar Mitrovic (21/20) as an Anytime GoalScorer is more of a certainty for me in this one. Add those two to a sneaky little match-builder.
Sunday 28 August
Wolves 17/10
Draw 23/10
Newcastle 33/20
(15:00)
Wolves have done a lot of work behind the scenes; I say that purely because of how specific they have been in addressing issues and communicating that with their fans. They haven’t had a great start and yet still hold the support of their fanbase. Newcastle was unbelievable against City. At times they took advantage of City being a little lack luster and played them off the park! This is a tough one – but I’m going to go with Both Teams to Score (Yes) and over 2.5 goals at 13/10.
Aston Villa 5/4
Draw 47/20
West Ham 23/10
(15:00)
Aston Villa would have fancied their chances against Crystal Palace but failed to match up to the questions Palace posed. West Ham have been under the pump a little recently, coming into this season off the back of a bumpy preseason and not being able to change their fortune thus far. It’s a difficult one to call again, but I’m going to go for a draw at decent odds.
Nottm Forest 56/10
Draw 7/2
Tottenham 9/20
(17:30)
Spurs have shown incredible character, especially in their last two games. They had to show grit against Chelsea but also had to grind out a result against a spirited Wolves side. Those are the sorts of traits that earn trophies into a (by and large) dusty cabinet… Forest has earned some encouraging results and with their new signings, it will be important for the remainder of the season. This is a difficult one to call only because it is a home game for Forest. The fans will be bouncing and if Spurs aren’t able to suffocate and silence them early on – it could be a long day. I’m going to take a chance and go Forest on the Double Chance Win/Draw! Get on at 29/20.
TREBLE @ 34/10
Brighton Win 9/10
United Win 8/10
Arsenal Win 3/10
