There are a few disruptions to the weekend’s League fixtures, but even in and amongst it all there are a few nuggets big enough to pique our interest. Three games are on offer to add to the midweek drama the Champions League will inevitably create – and it all culminates with a few more on the weekend.
Wednesday 16 March
Brighton 22/10
Draw 23/10
Tottenham 5/4
(21:30)
I know Tottenham come into this fixture off the back of a Cristiano Ronaldo masterclass at Old Trafford, but even though they are on the road I think 5/4 is a bit pricey. Their defensive system under Antonio Conte has been incredibly inconsistent – but they won’t be rolled dover here.
Brighton have lost their mojo; they didn’t really put up a fight against Liverpool and I think Spurs will have it all their own way at the Amex. Back the away win at favourable odds.
Arsenal 11/4
Draw 28/10
Liverpool 9/10
(22:15)
This is a massive game! For Liverpool, it’s a tough test they will need to pass to stay in touching distance of League leaders Manchester City. For the Arsenal, an incredibly tricky test. A test they will need to ace, lest they let slip a one-point (with three games in hand) lead over Manchester United and co.
These two sides come into the game firing on all possible cylinders – which means just one thing! Goals, excitement, and unbridled passion…okay that was a couple things. Arsenal have been brilliant at the right times, but I don’t think they are good enough to beat Liverpool. Back the home win and both teams scoring at 5/2.
Thursday 17 March
Everton 27/20
Draw 23/10
Newcastle 2/1
(21:45)
This is a massive game for Everton football club. If they have any chance of scampering their way to safety, then securing points at home is simply a must. Frank Lampard’s task of securing Premier League football for the Toffee’s next season is beginning to look impossible – and given the available data…Everton fans should expect their side to be relegated.
Newcastle won’t be as secure as Wolves was, but even so I can’t back the home win. They have one of the best teams in the League on paper – but just continue to flatter to deceive. Back the away win/draw double chance at 5/10.
