WANDILE DUBA INJURY BLOW FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

Cavin Johnson admits it was unfortunate for Kaizer Chiefs match-winner Wandile Duba to pick up an injury against Golden Arrows on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old striker netted his first goal for Amakhosi in what was just his third appearance for the club – and his first start – in the 11th minute at the FNB Stadium to hand his side a 1-0 victory.

Duba made his senior debut playing one minute in the goalless draw with Royal AM. He then went on to feature for half an hour in the 0-0 draw with Swallows – before playing almost an hour against Arrows.

Speaking after the game, the Chiefs coach told SuperSport: “I am happy for young Dube, he scored a beautiful goal in the first half.

“We had to take him off the pitch because his ankle got hurt. We gave the youngster his moment, he was good, and he gets hurt and we had to take him off, and I feel sorry for him.”

Amakhosi play rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby this weekend.

Johnson added: “In my head, when we got the three points, I started thinking about Saturday.

“It is a big game and supporters are a bit happier today. (But) we have to go and prepare a lot better for Pirates than we did for the last game against Pirates.”
