It’s all too easy for Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership. We are five games into the season and the Brazilians are already running away with the league title. The defending champions are on course for their fifth straight title as they comfortably sit on 13 points after beating Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. It’s important to note that they also haven’t conceded a goal in the league.
Saturday 2 October
AmaZulu 16/10
Draw 2/1
Kaizer Chiefs 7/4
(15:30)
After failing to beat Kaizer Chiefs for many years, AmaZulu finally broke that hoodoo and they’ve now beaten Amakhosi in the last two seasons. To be honest, Usuthu are my favourites to win this game judging on how poor their opposition has been. Kaizer Chiefs have used all four goal keepers this season as they continue to leak goals at the back. The visitors are also struggling for goals as they are without Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic. Back AmaZulu to win this match and add more fuel on Stuart Baxter’s Kaizer Chiefs.
TS Galaxy 2/1
Draw 2/1
Sekhukhune 14/10
(15:30)
A low-key affair sees TS Galaxy play hosts to the new boys Sekhukhune United. The hosts are rooted at the foot of the table and are yet to win this season. Sekhukhune has one win and two draws to their name which is a fair return considering the number of signings they made. This game has ‘draw’ written all over it and for the brave punters they can take 0-0 correct score line which is highly possible as both sides have scored just four goals in their five matches. Back a stalemate here.
Chippa United 17/4
Draw 23/10
SuperSport United 7/10
(15:30)
SuperSport United are the first team to raise their hands and say they will challenge Mamelodi Sundowns all the way. Matsantsantsa are two points behind Sundowns and they’ve scored the same amount of goals as the log leaders. If SuperSport can maintain consistency, I think they can be serious contenders having quality personnel. In order for any team in the league to challenge Sundowns, they will need to win matches against teams like Chippa United, otherwise the Brazilians will continue making this league a “farmers league.” Back SuperSport to win this game.
Baroka 2/1
Draw 2/1
Stellenbosch 14/10
(17:00)
Baroka welcome a rejuvenated Stellenbosch side to the Peter Mokaba Stadium. The home side registered their second win of the season when beating Sekhukhune United last time out, while Stellies have had a great start winning three and drawing two from five. This will definitely be an exciting game as both these sides are not afraid of attacking. To back that up, Baroka have scored and conceded four goals while the visitors have scored nine and conceded the same as their opponents. Back a Draw and Both Teams to Score (Yes) here.
Cape Town City 24/10
Draw 2/1
Orlando Pirates 12/10
(17:30)
Cape Town City haven’t had the best start this time around and Eric Tinklar is under pressure to do well in the league. Because of their MTN8 commitments, the Citizens have played one game less than the rest of the league. Orlando Pirates suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday. The Buccaneers need to respond, and this is a perfect opportunity for Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids to impress and show that the team is in safe hands. Back these sides to cancel each other.
Sunday 3 October
Golden Arrows 8/10
Draw 22/10
Marumo Gallants 7/2
(15:30)
Golden Arrows didn’t have the start they were hoping for in the league, winning once and recording three draws. Abafana Bes’thende have done well in the MTN8 and they will want to emulate that and perform well in the league. Marumo Gallants have only two points this season and surprisingly both those points were against Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. The visitors do well when facing big teams but struggle against smaller teams. Back Golden Arrows to win this match.
Royal AM 11/10
Draw 21/10
Maritzburg United 5/2
(15:30)
In form Royal AM will host Maritzburg United in a KZN Derby. Andile Mpisane’s boys have surprised everyone who were laughing and doubting them. They started the season slow with back-to-back defeats against Cape Town City and Swallows FC. The boys bounced back with a hat-trick of wins, beating Chippa, Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy scoring nine goals in the process. Maritzburg suffered their third defeat of the season which leaves them on six of a possible 15 points. Both these sides haven’t played a draw this season, it’s either they win or lose. Like the form suggests, back a Double Chance Home/Away here.
Mamelodi Sundowns 9/20
Draw 28/10
Swallows FC 13/2
(17:30)
The DStv Premiership has become too easy for Mamelodi Sundowns. They honestly don’t have any competition and their objective is to break records because they are almost guaranteed the title. The Brazilians haven’t conceded a goal in the league and that’s eight clean sheets in a row if we include the previous games from last seasons. Some are already tipping Sundowns to win the league unbeaten which is a very realistic bet, that’s how easy this league is for them. Back Sundowns to win comfortably.
TREBLE @ 68/10
Golden Arrows Win 8/10
Mamelodi Sundowns Win 9/20
Cape Town City vs Orlando Pirates – Draw 2/1
