Mamelodi Sundowns have signed Free State Stars right-back Nyiko Mobbie as Ea Lla Koto continue to cut down their squad to prepare for life in the NFD.
Stars released virtually every squad member at the end of 2018/19 following relegation though a few players with value like Mobbie were initially retained.
However, he has since made the switch to Chloorkop on an undisclosed deal.
Stars boss Rantsi Mokoena confirmed the deal to Soccer Laduma: “We have been talking to a few clubs about some of our players and Sundowns showed a keen interest in Mobbie.
“And yes we have concluded a deal for the player and he will be joining them for next season. He has been a great servant for our club over the years and had become an important player for us.
“But unfortunately, we couldn’t keep everyone. We have gone through a restructuring process to prepare for life in the NFD and it was in Mobbie’s best interest to continue to grow his career elsewhere.”
Other players that have been sold are Harris Tchilimbou to Bloemfontein Celtic and Sibusiso Hlubi to Polokwane City.
