Deano Van Rooyen was delighted to have made his league debut for Orlando Pirates in the 2-1 Betway Premiership defeat of Chippa United.
Deano van Rooyen was born on November 24, 1996, in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. He began his football career with Stellenbosch FC, joining the club as a teenager.
Van Rooyen made his senior debut for Stellenbosch FC in 2016 at the age of 19. He played a crucial role in helping the team gain promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) three years later.
During his time with Stellenbosch FC, he made over 100 appearances and left a lasting memory as captain of “The Maroons”. He is known for his consistent performances, averaging 27 league matches per season since 2019.
Nicknamed “Die Hond,” Deano van Rooyen idolized Cristiano Ronaldo growing up and as of August 2024, considers playing for Orlando Pirates a significant honor.
