Moroka Swallows chairman David Mogashoa says the DStv Premiership club failed to fulfill their Mamelodi Sundowns fixture after being unable to “meet the expectation of the players”.
Swallows were due to play Sundowns in a league fixture at Loftus on Wednesday but failed to turn up amid a battle between management and players over unpaid salaries.
They have also revealed an inability to fulfil their fixture with Golden Arrows, scheduled for Saturday.
Swallows coach Steve Komphela had to plead with his players to honour their recent clash with SuperSport United, which ended in a 2-1 loss.
Both the Premier Soccer League and the club have since released a statement pertaining to the two games, while Mogashoa has explained why Swallows are unable to currently field a team.
The Chairman told KickOff: “The players wanted to receive their December salaries early.
“Unfortunately, the club couldn’t meet the expectation of the players and a dispute ensued.
“At the time, club management made a decision to request the cancellation of the last two fixtures of the year.”
Swallows are currently in ninth place on the league standings with 19 points from 14 games.
