Chippa United coach Kwanele Kopo admits he’s keen to sign Sammy Seabi on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns for the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.
The 29-year-old former Polokwane City midfielder has spent the majority of his time with the Brazilians out on loan.
He most recently turned out for Sekhukhune United, after spells with Moroka Swallows and Chippa.
Now the Chilli Boys want him back, according to Kopo.
“The transfer window has not closed yet, so we are talking about a few players on the team.
“I would not like to comment on one player, Sammy Seabi. There’s always speculation about players,” said Kopo.
“I think we all know that Sammy Seabi is a very good midfielder, an experienced player, and he played for Chippa United before. He played for Sundowns and Sekhukhune [United].
“Would he be a positive addition to the Chippa family? Definitely, and we have a few other players because we want to build a team with a good blend of experience and youth.”
Chippa have signed Andile Jali, Aphelele Teto, Boy Madingwane, Giovanni Philander, Thobani Jacobs, Sifiso Mazibuko, Blessing Jali, Gadinkame Modise, Azola Matrose, and Xolani Sithole this off-season.
Kopo added: “So we brought in a lot of youngsters; I think we brought more young players than senior players; with Chippa not being a big club financially, we need to be a club that if we are not winning trophies, we need to make a return on investment through the player sale.”
