Chippa appoint Vusimuzi Vilakazi as Technical Director

Chippa United have announced the appointment of Vusimuzi Vilakazi as the club’s new Technical Director.

This news comes just days after Vilakazi resigned as co-coach of Golden Arrows to ‘further his coach education’.

Vilakazi, who spent 20 years at the club, from a player to coach, was appointed alongside Mabhuti Khenyeza last season after previously holding the role on an interim basis.

The duo had been enjoying a fine start to the new DStv Premiership campaign with three wins from five to see them sit in the second place on the standings.

But Vilakazi has now been unveiled by Chippa, who released a statement on Tuesday.

The Chilli Boys wrote: “Chippa United Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kanu Vilakazi as the new Head Technical Director of the club.

“Mr. Vilakazi is set to oversee the clubs development structures and senior team. His vast experience and deep expertise will play a crucial role in uplifting the performance levels of our club as a whole. He will work closely with the first team’s technical staff, offering support to our head coach.”

Chippa chairman Siviwe Mpengesi added: “Vilakazi, with his caliber and experience, join our club is indeed a proud moment for us. I am eagerly anticipating his contribution to our development structures, and confident that his insights will immensely benefit our first team.

“As Chippa United Football Club we are optimistic that with Mr. Vilakazi’s leadership, the club is poised to usher in an era of footballing brilliance, building upon its robust legacy which is to be the Pride of Eastern Cape.”
