Despite reaching two cup finals, Steve Komphela’s side were unable to secure any silverware and also finished a disappointing fifth place in the Premiership.
The Glamour Boys have since made a raft of changes to the squad with the likes of Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siboniso Gaxa, Keegan Ritchie and Morgan Gould among the more high-profile names to depart Naturena.
With some former big performers heading out the exit door, new additions have included the likes of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Sibusiso Khumalo, Keagan Buchanan, Enocent Mkhabela, Edmore Chirambadare, Emmanuel Letlotlo and Lewis Macha.
Some of Chiefs’ new signings made an encouraging start in black and gold as they beat Orlando Pirates 2-0 in the recent Carling Black Label Cup.
Nonetheless, Amakhosi midfielder Lucky Baloyi believes there is still a lot of hard work to be done before the team can restore the pride of their supporters.
“There is a strong will to win in the team. The technical team is pushing us hard to be ready for the new season. The good thing is that we are willing to work our socks off to restore the pride of our supporters,” he told the club’s official website.
Chiefs’ next pre-season assignment is in the FAME Cup against ABC Motsepe League champions FC Magesi on Saturday.
