Chiefs have done what was needed – Modise

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Teko Modise feels that Kaizer Chiefs have done what was needed in the transfer market to try and close the gap on Mamelodi Sundown and try to win silverware going forward.

Arthur Zwane was upgraded from caretaker to head coach recently plus the club have been offloading and buying players to improve their poor showing over the past few years.
Chiefs have brought in a number of new young players, namely – Siyethemba Sithebe, Dillon Solomons, Ashley du Preez, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Mduduzi Shabalala, Yusuf Maart, Zitha Kwinika and George Matlou.
In an interview with TimesLIVE, former Sundowns midfielder Modise said he was impressed with the young group of player that Chiefs had signed.

“I think the biggest conversation around the transfer market is Kaizer Chiefs. I think they have done good business,” the 39-year-old Modise tells TimesLIVE.
“Even though the overhaul is going to upset some people with so many legends leaving the team, at some point it had to happen.

“Look at all the youngsters coming in and also with coach Arthur Zwane having coached [some of] those youngsters, and Dillon Sheppard [Chiefs’ assistant coach] who has also worked with youngsters [as a youth coach at Bidvest Wits].

“The youngsters are really in good hands. But to see the success of that, I think that needs to be on the pitch. That’s the biggest challenge.

“The youngsters are quick to learn, they are coachable too and I think the struggle is always going to be the same as to who would challenge [Mamelodi] Sundowns.”
Modise adds that success may not came over night for Chiefs but he is confident if the club and fans are patient they will be successful at the end of the day.
“We’ve seen the results of overhauls at other clubs, where they brought success. Mamelodi Sundowns did an overhaul and they had success and were stable after that. Let’s see how Kaizer Chiefs are going to do.”
