Kaizer Chiefs have been given a slight boost with the news that the in-form Danny Venter is not available for Golden Arrows in Tuesday’s Premiership clash at FNB Stadium.
Venter is enjoying a good season for Arrows having contributed a total of six assists in all competitions as well as two league goals for the Steve Komphela-coached outfit.
The 31-year-old picked up his fourth yellow card over the weekend as Abafana Bes’thende were sent crashing out of the Nedbank Cup in the semi-finals to TS Galaxy from the National First Division.
The attack-minded player is in the top three in terms of goal contributions for Komphela’s men on eight. He trails only Lerato Lamola (12) and Knox Mutizwa (11) in terms of the numbers.
With that said, it seems Tuesday’s contest presents a challenge for both sides in terms of having the correct desire and motivation to compete.
Having reached the final of the Nedbank following a 4-2 victory over Chippa United, coach Ernst Middendorp will no doubt hope his team come out to play after achieving such a high.
Meanwhile, Komphela will have to lift his squad following the disappointing defeat to Galaxy from the NFD. Tuesday’s kickoff is 19:30 in Johannesburg.
