CAPE TOWN SPURS COACH ERNST MIDDENDORP AT A LOSS OVER INJURY TO BOITUMELO RADIOPANE

Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp has expressed his frustration at the injury situation surrounding striker Boitumelo Radiopane.

The 22-year-old recently spent seven months out of action but made his return to the side in the 3-1 win over AmaZulu in February.

But the on-loan Orlando Pirates’ attacker’s comeback was cut short when he had to be replaced after coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with the Buccaneers at the beginning of March.

He has since missed the struggling DStv Premiership club’s last three games with Stellenbosch, Moroka Swallows and Chippa United, although he was on the bench against Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday.

Middendorp said on iDiski Times: “Not really coming forward Boitumelo (Radiopane), playing 45 minutes training once or twice.

“It’s always an issue of being able to have a training week where he was consistently involved and now you can put them in and hope and hope and hope, but football is not about hope.

“This is a hard fight you have to retry it in the beginning to sort them in a way at training and 45 minutes here, 45 minutes there.

“But how was the outcome, not really in a way as we normally would be able though, what are we doing in this moment living on hope and living on really being prepared to have a player in heavy, no, it’s not 100% at all.

“We can do it and we have done it once or twice, but that’s always that’s not the way.”
