CAF Confederation wrap: Sekhukhune sunk but SuperSport record first win

Sekhukhune had no answer for CAF Confederation Cup opponents Stade Malien as SuperSport recorded their first win.

Sekhukhune United fell to a 1-0 defeat in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash with Stade Malien on Wednesday.

Franck Tiesse scored the only goal of the game at Stade du 26 Mars on 63 minutes to claim all three points for the Malian Premiere Division side.

The result left the DStv Premiership side in third place on the standings with four points from four games; three points behind second-placed Stade Malien and six adrift of leaders RSB Berkane. Diables Noirs are bottom with one point.

SuperSport United 2-1 Al Hilal Benghazi

SuperSport United picked up their first points of the group stages with a late 2-1 victory at hom to Al Hilal Benghazi.

Matsatsantsa had lost their opening three games but claimed all three points at the Peter Mokaba Stadium with Etiosa Ighodaro netting an 88th minute winner despite Washington Arubi leaving his side with 10 men after being dismissed on just 31 minutes.

Selaelo Rasebotja had opened the scoring on 11 minutes for SuperSport before an equaliser from Mohamed Salim on 23 minutes.

Al Hilal were also reduced to 10 men when Ahmed Abdulaziz was sent off with 52 minutes on the clock.

SuperSport remain bottom of Group A, level on points with Al Hilal in third, but three behind Modern Future and seven adrift of leaders USM Alger.
