Brighton Stuns Tottenham with Second-Half Comeback

In a thrilling match at the Amex Stadium, Brighton & Hove Albion staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 on Sunday.

Despite a two-goal lead, Spurs were undone by a blistering 18-minute spell in the second half.

Brennan Johnson and James Maddison had put Tottenham on course for a sixth consecutive victory, scoring before halftime. However, Brighton’s introduction of Pervis Estupinan at the break brought the Seagulls to life.

Yankuba Minteh quickly reduced the deficit in the 48th minute, and Georginio Rutter leveled the score ten minutes later. Former Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck completed the comeback with a header in the 66th minute.

The victory was another impressive scalp for Brighton, who had already beaten Manchester United and taken points from Arsenal. For Tottenham, the result was a setback after a promising run of form.

Known as the ‘high-line derby’ due to both teams’ aggressive defensive tactics, the match was filled with chances from the start. Tottenham had several opportunities, but Brighton’s goalkeeper, Bart Verbruggen, made some crucial saves.

Just before halftime, Tottenham doubled their lead through James Maddison. However, Brighton’s second-half surge was too much to handle.
The comeback was a testament to Brighton’s resilience and attacking prowess. For Tottenham, the defeat was a reminder that there is still much work to be done.
